Hello, my question is about how to add a channel to the NPVR program guide. I am using the current NPVR version on linux, I have an HDHR dual OTA tuner and I am subscribed to Schedules Direct, and I'm in the southwestern US. Out of the seventy or so channels that show up whenever I scan for channels on my TV, or in the HDHR app, I currently have 35 selected for the devices and the NPVR program guide. I have had this setup working for about a year and everything has been working fine. I need to add a newly created (in my area) OTA channel, and I don't want to screw up my current configuration when I do it.
The situation here is that network programming for CBS is leaving the channel it has been associated with forever and is being moved to a new digital sub channel (XX.4, for example) of another local channel that has always been associated with another major network, and it is this new digital channel (XX.4) that I need to add to the program guide. When the new channel was activated, my TV and the HDHR guide both picked it up immediately.
Using the web browser interface for my NPVR server, I went into settings and selected the devices tab. I selected one of the two HDHR devices (which currently shows the 35 channels I have selected for the guide), and clicked the "scan channels" button. In the guide selection I picked (as I always have) the Schedules Direct local broadcast listings for my zip code. The results were a total of 30 channels, a few of which are among the channels I currently have selected, most which are not currently selected. The newly created XX.4 channel does show up the scan. At this point I cancel out because I'm unsure of what to do. As I said, I don't want to screw up my current configuration.
If I select only the new XX.4 channel from this scan list, will the new channel be added to my currently selections, or will the current selections be erased and only the new channel show up in my channel choices for the guide?
Thank you in advance for your help.
