A few questions...

I'm planning out my system before buying anything and I want to know how to get the Hauppauge remote to work with the PVR-500MCE seeing that there's no input for the receiver. And does anyone know if the remote from the Hauppauge website comes with the receiver?

I'm also getting a GeForce Fx5200 for TV output. How does that sound? Any comments?

One more thing... Is there a way you can continue watching tv while looking at the guide? (i.e. - Have the picture as a smaller screen in one of the corners, or have a transparent background on the guide....) Thanks a bunch!

Hi. I'm guessing, but as the MCE is the Media Center Edition it may be expecting that you have the Microsoft Media Centre remote control. I've seem them reasonably priced on eBay. Not sure how they will work with GB-PVR though.

If you press F11 it'll bring up the TV Guide over the video.

Thanks for the input. I've changed how I'm going to set everything up. Since the computer I just got from my aunt doesn't have an AGP slot for a new video card or a USB 2.0 port - (OLD motherboard), I'm going to use the MediaMVP. Does this set up sound right?

• Cable split to cable modem and PC.
  
• Cat5 from modem to router.
  
• Cat5 from PC to router (Port 1).
  
• Cat5 from MediaMVP to router (Port 2).
  
• Wireless card on a second PC connecting to router - 128bit WEP encryption enabled on router.
  

I know I'm asking a lot, but keep in mind I'm new at this. Thanks for the help.

Sounds right to me. Depending on the quality of the signal from your cable provider, you might need some sort of cable signal booster first, in front of the cable split to modem/router. But try without it before buying one, it might work wonderful.
