Is it possible to access recordings via the web. I have some recordings of shows that others would like to d/l from me. I have tried using icq on my pvr machine with the shared folders option enabled. However, I think that the actual file must be manually placed into the shared folder for this to work. I would like to grant access to users via a password to access the shows recorded and placed into the My Videos folder.
Thanks.

Use the search...there has been a wide range of discussions on this topic. You should find quite a few options.

That is a nice answer, btw. Try the search yourself.

I need some terminology or lingo help here. The search engine does not support phrase searching and is returning too many hits. When "recording", "web", "remote", etc is used, as you can well imagine, a lot of info comes up. I need very basic help as related to if this is possible, what it is called, and how to access the info to do it.
Thanks.

I did what you said and searched for "watch and web" and "watch over web", and found a lot of returns. Since most people ask these things in plain language, the search is quite effective.

I wasn't trying to be rude. Sorry you felt the need to be. Someone may help you directly regardess, or if you do some reading and need help from there.

Capone,
OK. I apologize. That was a bit rude. It is the voice of frustration. I have no excuse other than I am sure the answer is here and I still cannot get to it. What article were you specifically referencing? BTW, "watch over web" and "watch and web" yield the same search results.
Thanks.

The pull slightly different results, the former being more helpful it seems. "streaming" is another term you can use to search w/. That is term for a way to watch online, too.

Capone,

I think our signals may be crossed. I would like to know if it is possible to acces the recordings in the "My Videos" folder via another location on the internet. That way the other user may choose what he wants to do with the file after he downloads it. This may not be possible as I cannot find any search info that is related. I think I should be able to find some related info, but, I cannot.

Streaming video to other PCs on my network is not a problem as I have "My Videos" shared and I use the default media player.

Thanks.

There is discussion in the first one along those lines. A networked PC does not necessarily need to mean just in your house. There is discussion of 3rd party apps/sites w/ info in there as well.

Someone may just help you out, if they're interested. Good luck either way.

I'll just say this ... you will likely have better luck googling it. You want to share a pc folder over the web. That has nothing to do with GBPVR.
I would google something like "share folders over the internet" or "internet folder sharing". Something like that will likely point you in the right direction.

Let me also say that you might try to be a little nicer in your posts. When asking for info here you will not get many responses if you are rude. No need to be rude, there are many very helpful people here. If you don't understand or don't like someone's response then ask them to clarify it. And certainly don't expect someone to spoon feed you every tiny bit of info. Most of the time you will get pointed in the right direction, and it is up to you to follow that direction and dig out what you need. It's not labor, it's learning!

I might be overstepping my bounds here for lecturing you, but this is a GREAT group of people. They deserve 100% respect. Remember, this is FREE software ... and it has a hell of a lot more quick and accurate support than you would ever get from something you purchased!
