Media MVP

subs and anyone with a Media MVP....

OK managed to "borrow" a Media MVP for a few days. Installed the Media MVP software on the gbpvr box. Cabled the media MVP up and powered the baby on. Got the Videos/Pictures etc menu on the TV. So connectivity wise everything seems ok.

So what next then? How do I get gbpvr on my TV via MediaMVP. I've been through the docs and the config.xml and I guess I'm being a bit dumb if it's as easy as subs suggested.

Any help (instructions) would be appreciated.

Fire up the MediaMVP the normal way so that you see the Hauppauge MVP screen on your TV.
Click the Start -> Hauppauge MediaMVP -> Stop icon. You TV will now be saying "contacting servers".
Click the Start -> Devnz -> GB-PVR -> GB-PVR MediaMVP server, and you should see the GB-PVR interface on your TV.

OK tried that... when I closed down the hauppauge services the tv went to "Contacting Servers"

Started gb-pvr Media MVP Server and TV went to "Failed to locate GUI server"

Could someone who is successfully running gbpvr with mediamvp put their config.xml up on the forum so I can check the settings against my own.

You dont have a software firewall on the server that could be getting in the way? If so, you might want to try disabling it for a few minutes

There is known problem when the server has more than one network adapter. In this case it might not be listening on right adapter. Could this be your problem?

No I don;t have a software firewall - I have got a router blocking all incoming traffice from the internet but that shouldn't be getting involved here. Only one network card in the machine so I guess it's not that.

A bit busy here today, so I'll have a think about it tonight after work.

Yeah no worries - it's quarter after midnight and I haven't seen the family tonight so I guess I'd better pack it in for today. I'll take a look back tomorrow morning and see if you've had a chance to look at the log snippet etc.

However, despite the hassles the MVP does look good - significantly better quality than my video sender.

If you're running the original Hauppauge software that came with the Media MVP you may get this sort of error. If you arn't already, you need to be running a recent version of the Hauppauge MediaMVP software. I suggest 2.1.22054 from:

Also I had this exact same problem on one machine of mine when there were two NICS in the machine, one was a Netgear FA112 and one was a wireless Belkin 54g NIC. It would only contact GBPVR when I disabled the NIC that wasn't conected to the MVP in this case the wireless card.

After it connected I could re-enable the NIC and everyhting worked okay.

Never found out why this happened though.

It doesn't happen on my current machine with two NICS in.
