Hi! I would be very happy, if some could create a good working plugin for german users.

The existing Plugin, which is getting it's info from weather.com (msnbc), isn't really good for me.

The font's are to big, the description is complete english (i think it has something to do how the exisiting plugin parse the website), and it really don't look good @ 720 x 576.

Can someone help out? For some help, something like this i mean: http://www.myhtpc.de/showtopic.php?threadid=2#47

you can change the skin and add translation to the language.xml....
i think, if someone could make a skin at a higher resolution the whole thing would look better....or you wait a few weeks, i am currently working on a skin ;-)

Hi dottore,

the problem is the following: I use the standard-blue-skin. So far, so good. One of my problems is: i changed some settings within the blue skin, because the resolution isn't right for german PAL TV's.

After i corrected this, some plugins look really interesting *g* The WeatherPlugin too. I am not good enough with the .xml stuff, to change this plugin for my wishes. :-(

I saw, that the plugin is really good and nearly perfect, but it doesn't work for me, as i wish ^^;

I changed the default blue skin to the following things:

Resolution: 720 x 576 Pixel

I raised the Font-Size extremly, so that they are much better readable on an 50Hz PAL-TV.

I am not to good in english so that i need many sentences to try to say, what i mean. I am sorry/excuse me for this.

MSNBC gives its extended forecast descriptions in english, which is why they are displayed in english. That said, I am looking at updating the plug-in to take the English text and translate it through babelfish.altavista.com, which might not make much sense either but perhaps will be closer.

The font's are to big...

I can't help with the translation, but if the fonts seem to big, you might try one of The Collection skins. It just so happens that the weather plug-in was the first plug-in that I reskinned, because the fonts were too big for my overscanned TV.

But be advised, The Collection currently doesn't support the weather's detailed forcast. I'm not really sure why.

Good luck and enjoy GBPVR.

Attached is an update that gives the option to convert the detailed forecast text to German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Italian. The language setting is set using the config application. If someone who speaks any of these languages wants to try it out and let me know how good (or bad) a job it does translating that would be great. I ended up using google to do the translation since I couldn’t get babblefish to work.

With respect to the download, it seems to be a problem when downloading using IE. You can either switch to firefox (a better browser) or download with IE and then rename the downloaded file to end in .zip. You should then be able to open and extract the file.

At least i had success to download the file. It was my error, because my "new" HTPC doesn't have any Software like WinACE, WinRAR or WinZIP. I use on this PC only the integrated zip-function from Windows XP.
On the other PC downloadet, unzipped, the file renamed with an ending extension like .zip and again unzipped, me installed your file.

Installation was succesfull, but your deinstall-option @ Software Menu from Windows XP doesn't work.

Btw., the german translation is terrible and don't work right. Sorry, but i thank you for your effort =)

I'll try again with your original Plugin and tweak it for my interests. I hope it goes good ;-)
