Hey, I'm in Melbourne with a Twinhan DVB-T card and Xcard. The Xcard works fine Smile but I'm having trouble with the DVB side of things. Sad

My Settings -

Recording Source: BDA Recording Plugin
then choose Device Type: Twinhan DVB-T

It's the EPG Source bit thats got me stumped, I'm having trouble creating an XMLTV file, tried a few programs like EPG Runner and TV Harvest and a few others which I've since deleted but not having any luck.

All I wanna do is tune in the TV channels 7,9,10 etc. I really don't care about the TV guide can anyone help me?

GB-PVR v0.94.13

Since your using DVB-T, can you not use the DVB EPG module to obtain the listings directly from the received signal, thus cutting XMLTV out altogether?

AFAIK DVB EPG isn't available via DVB-T in australia, correct me if I'm wrong???

However, doing this would probably just result in the channels being stored, but with blank EPG. While not being ideal for GB-PVR, it may suit the OP's needs if he just wants to watch the channels, and doesn't care about having an EPG.

There a bit tight with the DVB features down under aren't they? No EPG? Geez! I assumed every territory would have a least the basics.

Yeah, when I've pointed my dish across the pond, I can get some of the Australian DVB channels (Seven, SBS etc), but none have any EPG information. How crap is that.

As funkybro_uk suggests, you can set it use the DVB EPG, which will give you no listings, but should at least get the channels in.

Another approach is setting the EPG to 'None', and manually adding the channel, then click the 'Map digital channels to Epg Channels' to get it setup.

Realistically, I think you do want to get the EPG set up correctly. GB-PVR is sort of built around it, and the experience will be crap without it. There is a few other Aussies here using guide information, so hopefully one of them can tell you how to get it going.

Same for DVB-S in the UK, at least using the Astra satellites. All the EPG info is delivered using $ky's proprietary EPG format, designed to be received using a (proprietary) $ky digibox. Even for free-to-air, supposedly public service broadcasters such as the BBC!

However, with analogue switch-off looming, there is a (very low-key) push going on in the UK for free-to-air digital satellite services. If that takes off, perhaps broadcasters will be more likely to support non-proprietary DVB standard EPGs.

I believe an iceTV subscribtion is the only way to get a full Australian EPG.
Its $3 a week but a PVR can't live without it.

You can get a free 14day trial at http://www.icetv.com.au

If you problem is tuning I can send you the cashe file with all the Melbourbe frequencies etc.

Snarl,
Read your original post again and I think this will help - although this is only for the Mt Dandenong (Melbourne) transmitter.

see link http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=8737

Save this over your scan-x.cashe file in the BDA directory and the channels should appear.

Obviously this won't help if you signal is questionable.
