I'm in the (good) habit of loading XP programs using the administrator account. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't find GB-PVR on my personal start menu. As the app moves towards v1.x, then it really shouldn't need a multiple install just to get it on an individual's start menu. Excellent app even though it isn't for the feint hearted!

Just drag'n'drop a copy of the GB-PVR Start Menu folder to your personal Start Menu.

One of my machines is also used by my wife and it's a PITA for her whenever I install software that puts stuff in the 'All Users' profile. I prefer most installations to be for the profile that was used to install it.

If your personal account isn't a member of the local administrators group then just use 'Run As' to install. If it IS a member of local admins then you don't need to use the actual Administrator account.

Cheers,
Brian

Yes, I know - but the average Windows user is so used to having their hand held, for the sake of the tick option box that forms part of the .NET SDK, I think it's a worthwhile addition.

When suppliers provide me with beta test software apps in my job, I expect to have to 'mess around' but when the app gets rolled out across the department, it needs to be idiot proof.

Is there any chance to have a bar showing the volume level (like in MVP) each time a VOL UP or VOL DOWN is presesed?

With no disrepect to Sub, if a user is not sufficiently clued up to be able to move a start menu shortcut, they're going to have a hard time getting to grips with GBPVR.

What department?

The 'free' bit about GB-PVR applies to personal/private use (donations, of course, happily accepted by sub). If you're 'rolling it out' across multiple machines in your household then, as I understand it, the licence agreement covers this. In this case, you can easily 'tweak' the installations if you need to.

Cheers,
Brian
