Must say, I'm loving GB-PVR so far, even though its taking me a while to get everything set up 'just so' and make it ready for the rest of the fmaily to use as if it were a nice and easy DVD player. Before this I had a LiteOn LVD2010 'net player' which is basically a DVD/XviD player with a wireless network interface and a streaming server running on a PC elsewhere, with all your media on it. It was okay, but then LiteOn dumped it and so firmware bugs would never be fixed. I decided a HTPC was what I needed, and found GB-PVR quite by accident. The rest is history!

I am having a problem with one local cinema http://www.britinfo.net/cinema/cinema-li...004166.htm

this is an odeon cinema [Douglasfield Dundee]

the only thing I can spot on the britinfo site that looks different from the other two local cinemas is that on the cinema info pop up it does not have the number of screens detailed.

When you try and use it the cinema details etc are shown but the film info part of the screen remains empty if you press return you then get object not set error

the other problem I have noticed is that if you have a cinema set in the config and then change that to something else you get a similar error to the above but from the changecinema function

if you go the ukcinemas folder in the plugin folder and delete all the cinemas and films you can then use the cinema you have set in the config

How did the test go?

It seems to work now, thanks! The config just keeps one number inthe 'preferred' but allow more than one (well, two ) in the list of all cinemas.

I reproduced the error on my machine, the problem with the Douglasfield Odeon is it's film list. For some reason, half of the film titles are not links (this is what UKCinemaInfo uses to find film times).

The cinema info is scraped, the missing number of screens is no problem:

None of the Cinemas I test with have this problem, will try to sort it for the next release as its quite a big problem (it means changing the scraper).

Update : After looking at the HTML source for Douglasfield I've discovered it uses Javascript to show the film times:

I'm afraid this is un-scrapable, sorry.

Been testing 2.1 this evening. Got a few object not referenced errors, but reconfigured and reloaded, and it seems to be working a bit better now.

The current error is that it can't find any film listings for cinema 1003904
- I think the time lines are a bit odd - can you check?

Also... if I display the listing for this cinema, then press 'up' - I get an index
exception. Basically, I don't think the code handles cinemas with zero films on very well

Yep, the 2.1 version solves the multi-default cinema bug thanks! As a suggestion for v2.2, you could try using google movies for the scraper (eg. type wandsworth cinema into google and click on the showtimes link) - it has imdb links, by cinema /film etc.

Very true, it just assumes there are films. Im working on the new version right now. Fixes include the zero films crash, config app bug fixes, more efficent use of local listings and now looks up poster art.

This is what a typical film times page looks like. Problem with Royal Spa Centre film times is the extra line on every film, repeating the phone numbers. Also the film titles are not links so the scraper is not looking for it. This is a known limitation.

On a side note, I'm finding that a few cinemas on britinfo.net have non standard ways of showing film times, scraping these is really hard (scraping code is always ugly). An alternative source maybe on the cards one day. Need that does not use java (ie has the required info in the html source). An xml one would be &*^@ing great If anyone finds a source that maybe suitable let please post.
