Hi there,

I have the following pvr cards:
1) PVR150 (retail with remote)
2) PVR150MCE
3) PVR150MCE

When I install only one card (ie the first one) everything seems to be working, including viewing in GBpvr and recording through the GBRecord.exe app. I'm using the GBRecord.exe app because I want the scheduling of programs to be handled by webshifter (needs a commandline interface).

Installing another card gives me a major headache however. When the second card is installed, the card that at first worked fine, doesn't record anymore; that is, it gives a zero length file and the logfile states the following errror:
Code:
01:31:02.720    ERROR    failed to start Conexant Graph
01:31:02.720    VERBOSE    ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED
It's still possible to view TV on gbpvr though.

Strangely enough, the second card DOES work recording (however I didn't test this extensively)
  • I tried almost every combination of the tv-cards above, using 4 different PCI slots and two cards at the time.
  • I also removed my soundcard from the devicelist and installed it again (suggestion from this forum).
  • I deinstalled all hauppauge software and installed the newest drivers I could find (another suggestion from this forum).
  • I searched the forum and also found a suggestion to add the following line to the config.xml:
    Code:
    <AutoDetectEncoder>false</AutoDetectEncoder>
I tried, but this didn't help either. I didn't find the NativeUtilities.dll patch, but read that in the recent version (using GBPVR09105) the patch was included in the core (?).

I've spend the most time trying to get the two PVR150MCE's together, since in that case I could be sure that I could choose the pvr150mce from the list in the gbpvr config for each card.

Individually every card works fine with the Hauppauge software, so I can savely say all cards are ok.

I attached the last logfile where I installed the pvr150 retail next to one PVR150MCE.

Nothing I do seems to help and I'm quite loosing it . . . .
I'd like to have (at least) 2 cards working.

Please help!!!!

This bug was known to happen with some people with the PVR150 and PVR500. Some other people had no problems. It related to a bug with the 'pin medium' registry settings used in the PVR150/500 drivers.

A work around was eventually added to GB-PVR, but I no longer maintain GBRecord, so this still has the problem.

You best bet might be to try the latest drivers, and hope Hauppauge have the addressed the issue. I discussed the issue with them at the time, and they intended to fix it, but I wasnt prepared to wait so added a work around in GB-PVR.

Wow, fast response!!! Not what I was hoping for though . . .

I DID try the latest (pre-release from yesterday!) drivers, but to no effect. Sad
I know from the (imo) best hauppauge support site (shspvr) that Hauppauge does not listen to well to its users in other cases (like soundproblems)

Can you please tell me if there is a way to install an older version of gbpvr that works (with or without a patch)? I will only be using the command line interface (GBRecord.exe) on this pc, so I don't care to much about the latest features.

Otherwise I'm not going to wait for (slow) Hauppauge development, so maybe you can recommend another PVR program that deals with multiple tuners?

Thanks!

GB-PVR and GBRecord are entirely separate. GBRecord is not part of GB-PVR. The patch was only for GB-PVR so wont help you.

It sounds like you dont want a PVR program, but rather a command line capture program. I cant really think of any off-hand that have a command line recorder like GBRecord.

That's too bad . . . No way to push recordinginfo into gbrpvr then? For example by calling the GBPVR.exe with commandline parameters?

I'm using Webshifter. Webshifter can be programmed from other PC's and will have some very unique features soon (like autoprogramming on keywords), so I don' t want to switch that. I will use the PC for viewing too if possible, but the recording feature is way more important than the viewing.

No, not at this stage.

There is an API for scheduling recordings, but you'd have roll your own executable that calls this.

tipstir Wrote:HAU Drivers dated 10/24/2004 on CD with gray face seem to fix them problem and video recording quality with my 3 PVR-150 tuners... If all else fails then use more than one PC since some mix bag of cards might not work right together. The current drivers from HAU or SBVR (not sure on the name) never seems to work for me. It might for you or not?
sub Wrote:Those drivers wont help this problem.

Glad I missed Tipstir's reaction and Sub's response on it :p, because I remembered reading that [Reboot] had several PVR150's in his PC and it worked with him. So I searched the forum again and found his posting here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=10425

I installed version 22301 and guess what? IT WORKS!!!! Big Grin Now the funny thing: this driver has a releasedate of 22/12/2005, so almost the same as Tipstir mentioned. You can find the driver here: http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=6680.0

Now I know that the problem is driver related, I might search for a newer working driver. But for the time being I'm just going to be happy with a working config. If one finds one, please post it here too.

Thank you all for all the fast answers!!! Happy new Year!

Here's some additional info. I tried to use more recent drivers (23074, 23168, 23268 and 23348) and got them all working after finetuning the channels on frequency. That is, I entered exact frequencies in stead of channel numbers and tried somewhat higher and lower frequencies: ie when a channelfreq was 272000000, I tried 272125000 in stead. By doing so I could prevent the former error " ERROR failed to start Conexant Graph" from happening again!!!! Above all, by trying several frequencies, I got a much sharper image on my recordings.

However with all driver versions I got corrupt mpeg streams when I recorded over 20 mins or so. Sub, is this a known problem with all newer PVR150 drivers on gbpvr?

However, I downgraded to the 22301/ 22316 driver again and all is working fine again!

Thanks,

No, not that I'm aware of.
