"No tuner available.." message w/o any current recording.

I installed a new hard drive today, and my drive letters got somewhat messed up. I had it sorted out, but since then nothing shows up in recording status.

Also, when I try to watch "Live TV" I get an error message saying that no tuner is available even though there is no current recording. (One thing funny is that the Tunning Assistant works fine.)

I found a bunch of error messages in the GBPVRRecording.log .

Can anyone help me with this? I reinstalled .NET framework 1.1 and GBPVR but the same error keeps happening.

It basically looks like there is either an error in the database, or something is wrong with the Microsoft database access component on your machine.

You could try backing up, then deleting the gbpvr.mdb file. This cause a new one to be created. See if it'll let you create a new capture source and watch tv.

If that doesnt work, you may have to install Microsoft MDAC 2.6 or higher.

Thanks Sub, but it's still not working. (I am using Windows XP so MDAC version should be higher than 2.6.) I removed the gbpvr.mdb then restarted the recording service to get the same error messages in the log file.

Is there any registry value GBPVR creates?

No, not that would affect this.

Did you actually reinstall MDAC? I'm sure I remember seeing someone else get this earlier in the year, and think it was resolved by reinstalling MDAC. Something seemed to have damaged the MDAC components on their machine.

I use Win XP SP2 so I could not figure out how to reinstall MDAC. So, as a last resort I reinstalled the Windows Service Pack 2. (Yep, I was that desperate to have GBPVR work.) And now GBPVR works!
