follow the dummies guide (or other pages on the wiki, its pretty much fully explained) to then burn the dvd.

if you are finding that the dos prompt windows are opening and closing in a manner of seconds and no dvd is produced, edit the convert.bat and dvdburn.bat and add a "pause" to the end of the files, that will then make it so the window will only close until after you have pushed a key (and you can see what has gone wrong).

since my last posting, I've near enough given up on doing what I want to do.

I've installed all the software (ala dummies guide) but I still can't do what I want to do.

To get around me not being able to get it all to work, I've tried using Ulead video studio to burn my mpegs to DVD - but they are too big to fit on one DVD - and I don't know how to reduce them slightly in size (it's never much) to get them to fit.

It's so frustraiting - I feel so close to success, but yet so far!

Anyone with any ideas (or time) - feel free to email me at phil_moor@hotmail.com

you could always use a dual layer dvd, that way you would be able to burn around 9 gbs.

right...I've fiddled around (again) and I can now add video to MyDVD from MyVideo using the Record (Ctrl K) button. I now have files waiting in MyDVD.

I then put a DVD in my drive, and select Go (F11) - and I get taken back to the GB-PVR opening menu.
I used the 'home' key 'fix' as described here, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=12134 and the batch file runs for about 4 mins (and the hard disk works away) then the batch file disappears, but I'm still on Step 1 of 3. So I guess it's stopping here?

Moving on slowly...........

OK - put in the older version of PVA tonight.

When I click the Burn DVD button, it seems to be busy for 10 mins or so, and then says it's on Stage 2 of 3 - but then doesn't seem to do anything.

I've got Nero Express - so can I use the DVDburn.bat as seen here?

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MyVideosMyDVD

Any idea why it's sticking? I'll try putting some pauses in the .bat file.

Also, you say here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=12134 (similar problem) "ensure you have each file with "Convert: True"" - what does that mean?

you need to put quotes around all the commands that have spaces in them. since
C:\Program Files\DVDAuthorGUI\bin\mplex
is a command (your running mplex.exe in that directory) you need to put quotes around it, otherwise windows will think you are just trying to run something called Program in C:\.

so for each thing that is meant to be a single item, put quotes around them. but since the
-f
isnt part of the file name for mplex dont put the -f in the same quote block eg, use
Code:
"C:\Program Files\DVDAuthorGUI\bin\mplex" -f 8 -o "C:
\Documents and Settings\Phil\My Documents\My Videos\TV recordings\temp dvd\temp.
0.mpg" ....
and the
Code:
PAUSE
should be in on a line by itself.

OK - moved on again!

Now stops at stage 3 - DVD burning fails to start as it sticks up an error about being unable to find the temp iso file.

Error is:

DVD Encrypter
Cannot open file c:\temp\temp.iso
Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.

log from what is running at the time is here:

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>"C:\Program Files\DVDAuthorGUI\bin\mkisofs" -dvd-vi

So close..............is it creating the iso, or one of my apps pointing in the wrong location?

try using the nerocmd .bat file, and edit it so it points to the correct location of "nerocmd.exe" (that will save you about 5 minutes burn time).
