I have GbPVR set up on one computer and music files on my main system. I can play the music on the GBPVR system from the mapped directory, but when I go to the MVP, it shows the files (My Music 2 plugin), but when I select on for playing I get a message saying the file can't be found. BTW, I don't know much about networking so please be gentle, besides, I'm an old man.Big Grin

The MVP runs as part of the Recording service, which is running as a different user account, so it doesnt see your mapped drives. If you change the paths to use UNC names, then it should work (ie, \\servername\sharename)

I had the same problem, and fixed it. I posted the solution here.

Basically you need to make the gb-pvr recording service start up using a user account and password. The Default is a system account, which for security reasons isn't allowed to read files on other machines.

I've got it working using My Music3 plug in and also in Media MVP. Where and how do I edit directories in \\servername\sharename\directory format?

that should be in config program

plugins tab

select MyMusic

hit settings button

at the bottom you told My Music2 where to find... your music

be sure the entry is like sub said.. \\machine\sharename\directory\

if you just browse for it from "My network places" it should come up that way.
Just don't browse for it from "My computer" or "My documents" and create a path like "m:\music\", (a shared directory mapped to drive letter mSmile for instance.

Thanks for the reply. I can get things to work using the plugins, where I can't enter the directories is in the default music library.
