Hi,

I recently got GB-PVR (BDA drivers) to work with a Kworld ATSC-110 ( OTA ATSC / HDTV ) but have run into a problem recording. The problem is exhibited in two ways,

a) From a cold start of the system ( or a reboot ) and GB-PVR has not been used to watch live-tv then I get 0 KB recordings in both the recordingservice as well as choosing QuickRecord or Record from the TV Guide.

b) If I first tune to a particular channel from GB-PVR ( i.e watch Live TV ) then recording ( from the TVGuide or RecordingServices ) produces nice large files BUT no matter what TV program I choose to record, the system records the last tuned channel. In other words, it does not change the channel.

I have no problems changing channels in the LiveTV mode.

So, it seems that there might be two issues

a) Does GB-PVR have to initialize the card ? Is there something to configure ?
b) Why is the channel change not occuring ? Could a misconfigured BDA.ini entry cause this problem ?

Any help would be appreciated. In the meantime, I am searching the forum(s) but its slow going.

PS, BTW, great job sub (et al). Nice piece of work. I thought MythTV was the best but you have me reconsidering.

No, its not supposed initialize anything special before use. The theory goes that you hook up the BDA graph, submit the tuning request, then call run. Directshow and the BDA drivers are supposed to do the rest, including any initialization etc. The first on after starting the system should be exactly the same as any other later attempt.

Maybe. I'm not sure. I'd say it is trying to change channels, but for whatever reason the BDA device is not accepting it, or failing to tune the channel.

Hi sub,

Can you suggest any troubleshooting ?

Changing channels works in live-tv or from the TV guide ( i.e highlight a show and then select watch) . So, we know that GB-PVR and the bda drivers are handshaking fine. Further, Live-TV works by recording the transport stream and then playing it back independenty. So obviously , recording works

But at the same time, choosing record from the TV Guide or scheduled recording does not change the channel and stays on the channel last tuned to Live-TV. If there was no previously viewed channel, it appears that the drivers return no data as there is no tuned channel.

So, something is failing on scheduled recording but I dont have enough knowledge of the subject to pin point the problem. I will continue to tinker and hope for the best.

This is the same problem (maunal channel change=OK, automatic channel change for recordings=sometimes no) I am having as well (WIN TV-PVR 150).

This only started to happen after I had to update the drivers (as recommended in an earlier thread, regarding failed recordings).

This gets me thinking maybe I should try a different driver set and see if that solves the problem.

Its most likely unrelated to the problem the user was having above, since he is using a digital ATSC card which does things very differenly to your PVR150.

The only situation I'm aware of that can cause recordings to not change channels on the PVR150 relates to the use of the IR Blaster. Are you using the PVR150 IR Blaster? If so, I'll tell you how to fix it.

You should be using the ".exe channel changer" and point it at c:\program files\devnz\HaupBlast.exe

Thanks!

The recordings change the channel perfectly, but now when I try and watch live TV by changing the channel through guide it doesn't change channels at all... I can live with this (since the recording function is used 95% of the time), but is there any further tweeks for a fix?

Found the problem (or solution). Changing the interdigit delay in the IR Blaster software seemed to work.

Channels change for recordings AND watching live tv using the guide.

Thanks for the help with the "Channel Changer" settings.
