Just to be clear, I wanted to ask this. My example is simplified. Let's say I have one card on which I can receive two stations (channel A and channel B), and then I have another card on which I can receive one of them (let's say channel A).

Now, if I record something from Channel A, I would obviously want GBPVR to use card number 2, since then I would have card one available for channel B. If it chooses card number 1, then my card number two would be less useful, right?

If I would get a card number two, then I would have this situation, but in a larger scale. All channels that are available to me on card 2 (which would be a freeview card) are also available to me on my original card (on which I get all the freeview channels plus several more that I pay for). I would then want GBPVR to use card number two first whenever possible...

But if I have interpreted other threads correctly, I cannot control this, right?

I do not have two tuners, so take my reply with a grain of salt.

Seems to me that you would have two EPG sources; one for each card. The same channel on each card would have different designations (channel numbers) in the guide. You choose which "channel" to record on and manually eliminate the conflicts.

I think your issue comes when you have a single EPG serving two cards that record from the same source (i.e. two tuners connected to cable). GBpvr gets to choose the tuner. I suppose this could be a problem if the tuners had quality issues where one of them couldn't tune in a channel that was available to both of them.

That would be a solution that would be less user friendly, no? Say I have channels A, B and C on one card, and A and B on one card. Now, I have a season recording setup on channel A on card 2, and another on channel B on card 2 (thus leaving card number 1 "free" for other usage"), but then one week the two shows are conflicting. Then it would be nice if it (gbpvr) could record one of the shows off card 1... I think this has been up in the past even though I haven't read the posts too carefully since I yet only have one card, but I can see why people would want to be able to somehow prioritize which card to use =)

Hi Stefan,

I've had this problem some time ago. By "trial and error" I found out the following (assuming two capture cards with identical epg-sources and channels):

If both capture cards are 'sleeping':

- capture source 1 (the top-most in the config-app) will be used first for recordings

- capture source 2 will be used first for live tv.

So you should choose the capture card with 'fewer' channels as capture source 1 to ensure that when a recording is scheduled, gbpvr takes this card for the recording first if the channel is available there.

Hope it helps,

Ah... ok... I was under the impression that I had no influence on which card would become number 1. Thank's for the replies, guys.

Hm... wait... it's just to define them in the order I want them (when I create them), am I right? But once I have defined them there is no way to reorder them, am I right again? =)

No, unfortunately there is no way to easily reorder them. You might be able to do something cunning in Microsoft Access, but I've never tried. Its based on the capture source OIDs.
