I have been using this program for a like 6 months without much problem. I switched to the new release and now all kinds of problems. I have uninstalled and re-instlled the program like six times now and this extra video card is causing me some problems.

I Have
2 Haupage 150s (one is hooked up to a cable box the other just straiht cable)
a Windows XP pro pent 4 fully loaded (this machine is lean and mean)

I have set up one source fine (The one with the cable box) and everytime I try to set the second one up, I have problems. First of all it kept tellimg me the EPG wasn't set up correclty. SO I switched it from 15 days worth to 4 days worth. (Zap2It) Now the EPG download is stuck in perpetual thinking mode. If I try to watch TV i get the error message I posted in the forum an hour about the machine refusing connection.

Can someone please tell me whats going on so I can get this working. I MISS MY TV!

Thanks

I wish I had an answer to your question but can only say that the last 2 weeks updating my EPG has not only taken more time, but has been more taxing to my system. I'm going to try a defrag to see if it helps but I wonder if there may be some problems with Zap2it as well since sometimes it doesn't seem to complete the update.

Anyone haveing zap2it problems shoudl switch their auto updates to the afternoon and not overnight. They have said they are overloaded from 1am-9am. That will at least help in getting the data to your system.

Agreed. I have changed mine to the afternoon hours and that seems to have helped. It would be nice if the download intervals were expanded to allow configuration in 10 or 15 minute intervals. That way the requests would be offset even more than they already are and would increase the chances of a successful EPG download.

I think you can manually change the time in the config.xml, but I'm not telling you to try, so do so at your own risk.

Also, you should not set to empty EPG, or use an util/plugin that gets expanded EPG data, if you have problems. You also want to disable channels you don't need at the source (read: zap2it). I think you still get the data if you hide it in GB.

If there is a lot of traffic, and if your connection isn't consistantly fast, any timeouts or long hangs are probably going to roll back the whole process to be safe.

I am concerned that if I set my EPG download to mid-day that it might have an impact on a recording if it happens to be scheduled around the time of the EPG download. Does GBPVR have the smarts to avoid processing the EPG when a program is scheduled soon or currently recording?

It wont adjust the time the EPG processing is done, but it is done on a low priority thread, so it wont cause any problems for recordings you have scheduled.
