Darryl Wrote:They are $289 new in Australia.. and none to be seen on EBay. Maybe I should go into the export business! http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/..._uid=52910 Is there an Australian version of ebuyer. If not then there is a US, I am sure they will ship items abroad if you enquire.

Be interesting if they have any in stock. Saw some other threads about MVP's being hard to find lately....and I've had one on order for 3 weeks, and it's delivery date keeps getting pushed back.

Darryl Wrote:Is the interface between the MVP and GB-PVR There was a client piece of software written and posted to these forums that ran on a PC and "looked like" an MVP to gbpvr. I tried an early version and it worked but was unstable. Unfortunatly the guy doing it didn't finish and hasn't been seen on the forum for quite a few months now. We also don't have the source code. The MVP interface is documented on the web but not very well. The easiest thing to do would be to have an MVP with a network packet sniffer to determine exactly what is sent between the MVP and PC.

There is somewhere that the did break down the protocol quite well.
Apparently it's a modified VNC client with some extra bits in it. I had tightVNC "almost" connect, but it doesn't have the extra acknowlegements needed to talk to the MVP server. Try http://www.rst38.org.uk/mediamvp/protocol.html and http://www.rst38.org.uk/mediamvp/protocol.txt they may be the same thing in different formats....Somebody, with a better C++ knowledge should be able to grab a VNC client and get it to do something....

The exchange rate, freight costs and various import taxes all add to the cost of getting it here from the US. And if there is a problem with it, the time and freight costs back and forward to the US will soak up any saving I would have made. And thats if the seller even honours any warranty. The other question is whether there are different versions made for Australia? Cheers, Darryl

I'm using two US model MVPs here in New Zealand without any problems. The power supply that comes with it is 110-240V.

Darryl Wrote:Actually, I'm not really interested in a PC frontend. Why tie up a $1000 PC or even a $500 PC when a $200 XBox (with XBMC) will do the same thing.? I don't know if you've checked this out.....but there are two types of methods out there to use a modded Xbox through XBMC to access the homebrew PVR servers. One is through Media Portal (http://home.iprimus.com.au/miarose/). The other is for SageTV http://coolwave6.googlepages.com/home). I don't know if this is what you mean. I would have tried making an XBMC plugin to allow access to the GBPVR server, however, I am so inexperienced at programming that I have not been able to figure it out. If these resources help, then I think it would be a great thing to create modded XBox frontends, especially since they will get cheaper as XBOX 360 becomes more popular.
