The ATI 550 has hardware decoding which makes me think of the PVR-350. With the 350 only the video signal goes to the TV, to use Windows you need a separate monitor.

I have never had a 350 so my understanding may be seriously flawed.

The ATI 550 tv card is not like a 350 - it only has hardware encoding. Ie it has a chip on the card (the chip is called 550 hence the name) which does the TV in -> MPEG video stuff.

You still need a normal grahpics card (like my FX5700) to get the picture on to a tv and/or monitor.

Hope this clears things up Smile

Maybe I should mention that currently I am using a standard graphics card with the output going to my TV set. When not using GBPVR, I see the Windows desktop on the TV.

I do have the 'MCE Remote' set in config app on the 'DVD and Remote' tab. No, most of the keys do not work. Only the 4 direction keys(up,down,left,right) and 'enter' work. Stop, play, record, fwd,rew,skip, replay, and escape are among the keys that do not work. I have really been struggling with remote controls and GBPVR...

McBainUK Wrote:If you have the same remote as most 500 pro's come with you need to set it as 'MCE Remote' on the channels tab on the config app. All buttons should work except for some of the buttons at the top.

Hmm do you have any cyberlink software running in the background. I found that i had pdvd.exe (or similar) runinng which took over some of the keys. Google for startup.exe to see what is loading up when windows loads.

Edit:
Assume you've got this remote.

There is nothing running in the background like cyberlink,etc and nothing in the startup folder other than GBPVR. The MSI remote is not the same as the Sapphire remote (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spe...class=vga). Does your Sapphire remote handle stop, rewind, replay, skip,fwd, escape/home and the like? I think the physical ATI 550 cards are the same and I had assumed the MSI remote would more or less be the same as the rermote for other 550 manufacturers but maybe this is the prob. If this is true I'm going to be PO'd cuz when I bought the 550pro I asked for the Sapphire but they were outta stock and handed me the MSI 550Pro saying it was the same....

Think they just take the basic 550 card and add thier own assecories. Maybe a chance of a refund as they kinda of told you false information.

Quick search on the forums - fusionrx, cfreukes and egold seem to have msi remotes from their previous posts. Maybe try sending them a PM / email.

Yes, the Sapphire remote works for all those keys you mention. The remote pictured in your link above looks very different from the remote included with the Sapphire 550's, so I'm guessing its a different beast entirely.

Could someone reading this who uses other ATI 550 tuner cards like the Sapphire Theatrix 550 or the ATI Wonder Elite 550 please do a quick test for me: using the showkey.exe app found in your GBPVR keymapping folder press the stop,record,play,rew,fwd,skip,and replay buttons and post the corresponding keyboard keys.

For me with the MSI Theater 550Pro it maps as follows:
replay=p, stop=s,skip=N,rew=B,fwd=f,rec=r,'home'=shft-ctrl-H,play=ctrl-p and/or space.
