MVP Remote control

Something that I have been wondering about is that I bought two MVP's at different times from different suppliers.

One of them is I guess the 45 button control, the other has less. Fortunately, when I bought a Nova-T, it came with the 45 button control so I just used that with the MVP with the cut down control.

Question is, if I buy another MVP and it doesn't have the remote that I like, can I set gbpvr to use two different types of remote? I don't believe that I can set a different control per gbpvr instance?

Yes, my question was more around the button mapping than anything else. If gbpvr is set to use the 45 button remote, how do things map when i've got the other remote? Without the ability to choose per instance settings for the remote, I was just wondering how the buttons map? Specifically the ones that some of the plug-ins tend to use to achieve things, the majority of the buttons won't be a problem.

There is no setting in GB-PVR that says which of the two Hauppauge remotes you are using. They both generate the same keystrokes in response to the same keys, but the 45 button remote is a superset of the 34 button remote (ignoring the blank and full buttons).

If there is a plugin that relies on a keystroke that is not possible on the 34 button remote, then unfortunately you'll be out of luck. There is no way to map individual buttons or anything like that.

Ok thanks. It's not a problem right now because as I said, I bought a Nova-T with the 45 button remote at the same time as the second MVP with the neutered remote.

At least both my MVP's have the same remote, I was just wondering what would happen if I bought another MVP and it came with the neutered remote.

I get it now, I thought gbpvr needed to be set to the right remote but see where it fits now.
