Quote:using the showkey.exe app found in your GBPVR keymapping folder press the stop,record,play,rew,fwd,skip,and replay buttons and post the corresponding keyboard keys.
That wont work. GB-PVR does special things to receive keypresses from MCE remotes. Showkey does not do the same thing, so wont give you what you're want.

As McBainUK's response shows, the MCE buttons dont behave like simple keystrokes. There is a special layer in GBPVR.exe that converts these special remote control notifications into keystrokes. It's this layer that doesnt know how to talk to your remote.

I've got the same card/remote and have been able to get the basic play/pause rw buttons to work. No they don't all work out fo the box, and some of the values that showkey returns don't work either. I have the remote setup as MCE. Here's the relevant config info I have in VideoPlayer.xml:

<command name="VIDEO_ENTER" key="Enter"/>
<command name="VIDEO_FASTFORWARD" key="F"/>
<command name="VIDEO_REWIND" key="B"/>
<command name="VIDEO_SKIP_FORWARDS" key="n"/>
<command name="VIDEO_SKIP_BACKWARDS" key="p"/>
<command name="VIDEO_PAUSE" key="^P"/>
<command name="VIDEO_PLAY" key="Space"/>
<command name="VIDEO_STOP" key="S"/>
<command name="VIDEO_VOLUME_UP" key="Add"/>
<command name="VIDEO_VOLUME_DOWN" key="Subtract"/>

I've got the basic functionality working, although time shifting just seems to hang the system.
EDIT:
Update from 9413 -> 9516 solved the time-shift TV. Everything works fine now.

Afternoon everyone,

an update got the rig built, amd 300+ venice core 1 gig ram, abit nv8MOB, gforce6600 128 megs 250 h.d 430 wts thermaltake pws and MSI 5500pro.

The install was fine and took me a bit to get gbpvr working but I can see live tv and sound is in sync. The system crashed a few times but I think that was because of running nero at startup which doesnt anymore. Im using the nvida decorder. The monitor is ben q set at 1280x1024 high color. cox cable no set top box.

Live tv is um ok, I was watching a baskeball game and seemed like there was some streaking or blur but then other channels come in very good, The color is vivid but I assume thats adj. the monitor and video driver settings. Im suing the 81.95 drivers. 2 questions:

Im also only able to use the pad on the remote essentially just up and down changing channels all the other buttons arent working

What can I do?

Does it make a difference if aa and af and vert. sync in the vedio settings are on and if so to what settings?

I'd really like to get this remote working. By the way I never installed the cyberlink software just the dirvers for the card.

Thanks so much for your help so far.

As established above there is no built in support for whatever remote is shipped with the MSI version of the card (ie, I dont have one of these remotes). Sorry.

You might be able to use Girder or HIP to map the keystrokes to those required by GB-PVR.

Thanks for the info Chief...that helped me. I think these MSI 550pros may become a very common choice for tv tuners, perhaps a future version of GBPVR could support them natively.
