New ATI Avivo Transcoder available

The application creating the graph has to enable remote access. I turn this on in my software plugin, so people can attach and mess around with the graph if they want, but it has to be enabled by the graph creator.

You can make your own graph and add the compressors, and tweak them to have your preferred config, and you'll get the same result though. Just you dodn't have as nice as interface.

yea,they don't put the filters in the TOD so it's not available to remote processes...there's a few other things goin on in the avivo converter besides just the normal graphs,[resizing,cropping etc] just use a file source as input, inset the ati video and audio encoders and the ati mux and set all their properties the way you'd like tham and save graph and run it...
oh yea,connect mux out to gbpvrwriter filter to output to mpg/avi/etc...

How did this work out for you and do you actively use avivo like this?

Hello; I installed graphedit. When I select the filter list I do not see the ATI video filter in the video compressor section. I see the ATI audio filter, but not the video one.
ANy advice would be appreciated.

Oops, found them. Stampee you have to look under "DirectShow Filters." That's where all the ATI stuff is.

Now if someone could tell me how to get the actual file I want to transcode into Graphedit (the first step) I would be most appreciative

Use a 'File Source (async)' or 'GB-PVR FileSource', as a destination use 'File Writer' or 'GB-PVR Writer' - as you've already found: all of the filters installed on your system are under 'DirectShow filters'.

Tip: if you have xvid or divx installed, you can use those as compression filters too.

I read all of avivo & graph edit in the thread and now I have a question. How can I set for ever the setting in avivo ? really do I use graphedit each time I need to recorder with gb-pvr?
Any advice will be very appreciated...

you can actually use it to transcode to svideo at blazing speed and not bad quality...

if you have an ati card then you are in for super compressing times...

if you do not have an ati card then you can use the modified drivers that will use your video cards GPU and you will see a big difference in transcode speeds...

to use the command line options for GBPVR you need atixcode.exe
you can get the full drivers here,

run setup and you can locate the cab files in the "c:\ati" AVIVO folder
use winrzr to open the data1.cab file and there you will find the atixcode.exe

simply put that in your gbpvr/third party folder

a file that always took 5 minutes to encode for me (11min 720x480 clip) takes 45 seconds......

Does anyone have experience with using the ATI 9600 card and this transcoder? Do you think this will have any impact on transcoding times for me? I have that card and a P4 3.0 Ghz CPU and was interested in knowing the performance on a similar system, especially with H264 encoding of DVD movies, which just takes forever on my system using Handbrake.
