This is my setup. It is in my bedroom which is, in effect, my living room. Smile You can see my 'puter is in far corner on top of rack. The case is a Silverstone LC03 with two-line VFD (controlled by LCDSmartie).

The monitor in the foreground, the telly and a shelf / front-mounted Panasonic PT-AE200 projector (out of shot to left) are all hooked up to that PC powered by an MSI Nvidia 7800GT. I sit just to the left of the monitor.

A Creative Audigy 2 provides 6 channel sound amplified by a Yamaha DSP-A5. PowerDVD provides Pro-Logic II output for broadcast programmes and 6-channel output from Dolby Digital and DTS encoded DVD's.

Recording is done using GB-PVR and a Hauppauge PVR-500. I am getting a USB Freeview tuner next week so we'll see how I get on with that.

I only use GB-PVR to watch items on a time delay, mainly F1. I wait about half-an-hour after the F1 transmission starts, load up GB-PVR and start watching the recording. That way I can skip all the ads and still finish up at the end of the race at about the same time as the live transmission. Ads really spoil races for me, removes all the tension.

My machine is used as a PVR, a development machine and as a very capable games machine. The thing I most love is that, thanks to the wonder of GB-PVR and the hardware-encoding capability of the PVR-500 I can play any game and still record two channels without stutters, instability or any other problems.

Here is the room where my system resides....not shown is the PC built into the wall on the left hand side. Under the screen is an infra red repeater that sends the signals back to the equipment rack. The screen is 4:3 ratio 92 inch diagonal. Picture is displayed with an old NEC LCD projector. Room also has theater level seating (back couch is on a platform) so there are no obstructed views.

Do you have to have the lights off to watch it or is it bright enough to see with the lights on

Lonegeek, depends on what I'm watching. If I had a better projector (it only outputs 300 ANSI lumens) I could easily watch with the lights on, but most of the time I just dim the lights (they are on a ir dimmer that I can control from the remote).

Does a novelty hot air poper that looks like a popcorn machine count? I was very close to actually buying one about a year ago, didn't have the extra cash at the time though.
