Do any NZ ISP have a connection thats over 1Mb and unlimited usage?

I cant believe all NZ ISP are limited to 10Gb, is this a legality issue?
Many Thanks

No there isnt. Its damn annoying. I'm on a 2Mbps cable connection with 10GB cap.

Its not a legal issue, just not enough competition between the big players yet. Also Telecom is holding things up a bit with the wholesale rates they sell at.

Ouch, ISP caps suck, Here in the US i get 9mbps download and 1 mbps upload uncapped for 50 bucks a month, which is still nothing compared to Japan, where you can get 100mbps download for like 15 bucks a month.

It seems the UK is better than most countries in this aspect then you can get 1mbps uncapped as low as £14.99 or adsl 2 (limited availablity in certain areas) with upto 24mbps for £27 a month, these are the two extremes but normally its approx £30 for 2 mbps uncapped. But it's the competition and the local loop unbundles that have pushed prices down, just 5 years ago a 1/2 meg connection set you back £39.99 a month and a £150 connection fee. Obviously countries like sweden and japan are far more advanced than us but I can stomach the fee here compared to the prices we pay here for other things.

Plus in the UK we get the option of broadband via Cable services like NTL & Telewest up to 10mbps...
Is that an option over there?

Actuall NTL etc are really crap, i pay £70 per month fro 2Mb totally unrestricted TCP connection (no restrictiosn on ANY ports and no caps) .

its this CAP in NZ that sort of stopped me and the otherhalf moving there.

I am the type to start my own ISP with an uncapped connection but sounds like its the telecom company doing that.

Sounds likes NZ needs alittle competition maybe??? Big Grin
Many Thanks
Ashley
