I don't know if skin effects are the best way to handle inset windows, panels, ect. and would require more talent on my part.

So do I and I can help you get beyond this initial decision.

Right now I'm working overtime at my day job. Words aren't the best way to help you. When I get home I'll try and put together a couple of pictures.

I think I know where to find Blue's background. I've heard that Contour has four. Where (path wise) do I find them?

Best Regards,
David

The attached image is a shot of a skin on top of a three color background. By using the two layers, the end user can select any color background (my daughter likes purple) and the skin will morph to it.

With the skin, you have acouple of choices. Here I've used partial transparency for the partial elipses so they absorb some color from the background. They could be solid black if you wanted.

The oposite is true of the rounded rectangle. Here it is solid black but it could be partially transparent.
Or you could draw it in the XML!

Choose any combination you like and I will send you the appropriate file or files. Better yet, I used PhotoShop Elements to create this file. If you can work with .psd files, that would be the best way for you to go. Let me know.

I'll take a look at the other image now. (I know I have seen it's likeness somewhere...)

But I couldn't pull it off. I can handle .psd files (I am using paint shop pro 7 and the trial of PSP X).

I have tweaked my previews a little.....

Start with blue...

Lets go Purple (background only, no overlay) with Groove buttons...

How about green contour with color buttons...

or Sharperedge blue...

I like the idea of using overlays for the overall effects, and Inset window to get it to reflect background color.

This was too easy!

Same as before, a skin file on top of a background, part of the same .psd.

Use the whole collection if you want! Don't feel limited to images.
