I've been using GB-PVR for a bit over a week now, and I must say I love it. I have an ATI TV Wonder Elite card and the software that comes with it, as has been said many times, is horrible. I was looking at setting up a mythTV solution when I stumbled upon GB-PVR and am glad I did. Setup was a breeze and any minor glitches I've hit have been fairly easy to work around.

I liked it so much I decided to go ahead and get a second tuner and upgrade my drive space to record all the shows I usually miss while slaving away at work. This is where I hit a snag. The second tuner is also an ATI TV Wonder Elite and is correctly recognized under Windows XP Pro and GB-PVR (can only choose capture devices 1 or 2). However, the second tuner doesn't appear to be working under GB-PVR.

To make sure it wasn't the card, I ran a slew of tests in the "process of elimination" fashion. I'll describe some of them below.

Tests:

1) GB-PVR Single capture source, set to capture device #1 - LiveTV has video/sound
2) GB-PVR Single capture source, set to capture device #2 - LiveTV has video/no sound
3) Enable card #1/Disable card #2 via Device Manager, GB-PVR set to capture device #1 - LiveTV has video/sound
4) Enable card #2/Disable card #1 via Device Manager, GB-PVR set to capture device #1 - LiveTV has video/sound
5) Single capture source, set to capture device #2 - LiveTV has video/no sound
- Use VirtualDub to access device #2: Full access to video/sound/tuning in VirtualDub
- Use VirtualDub to access device #1: Sound plays in GB-PVR, no access to video in VirtualDub
6) Using two copies of VirtualDub, access device #1 and device #2 - Full video/sound on both

Defining dual capture sources in GB-PVR exhibits the same symptoms as the single capture sources above. From the tests, it appears that GB-PVR is only ever accessing the first capture device.

At this point I'm about at the end of what I can do without direct access to the code. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them. I can re-run any of the tests and provide logs if necessary, or give more information on things I've tried (1-6 is not an exhaustive list).

Thanks ...

With both card setup in GB-PVR, run a test that shows two recordings at the same time, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Thanks. I appreciate the help.

The second recording ended up being a file size of 0, which I expected since I could never get anything to show up when the first device was recording.

Let me know if I screwed up or you need anything else Big Grin .

According to your logs, it looks like both youre recordings should fail:

Quote:14:49:09.500 VERBOSE ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer
14:49:09.500 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer
Quote:14:49:18.390 VERBOSE ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer
14:49:18.390 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer
I'm not sure why this filter is missing from your machine.

I recently did a complete reinstall of Windows XP Pro to set up a raid drive and do various cleanup. Afterwards, I only installed the base ATI drivers needed plus the updated WDM version for the 550 Pro chipset. It's possible that driver was included with some of the other junk software they have included on the CD. I can try installing that and see if it helps, but for the one card solution, all recordings work fine.

*confused*

If you're on broadband and want to get to the bottom of it, I'm happy to connect remotely to take a look.

I am on broadband, but have firewalls and other such set up right now. I'll see if I can set something up real fast for you to check it out.

Thanks much.

Using GraphEdit, I see the "ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer" listed under "WDM Streaming Multiplexer Devices". Does this mean that it does exist on my machine and just isn't being found? I can also find references to it in the registry, though those mean even less to me.

I'm learning as I go here, but opened the lastgraph.grf file in the GB-PVR directory and noticed it was using "Encoder" in place of "ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer". Replaced "Encoder" with the new filter and played the graph and all was well.

Hope this helps any. I'll gladly take a look at anything I can as I'd love to get this working and am not above doing some grunt-work myself.

How many do you see? One or two?
