normanr Wrote:For information about this plugin please visit the SoftwareRecorder Wiki Page.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT: If you want to use this plugin for anything but LiveTV in Preview Mode, i.e. LiveTV in timeshift mode, or recording programs, then you will have to install an mpeg encoder library. Check below for the list of encoders that have been known to work. It seems that the default MPEG2 decoders provided by windows have troubles decoding some video streams, therefore it is recommended that you use the video decoder that comes with the encoder to watch your recordings.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: If you can't get your card to work, please make sure that you take all the logs generated during you testing, zip them together and attach them to the message you post in this thread. In the logs hide all the secret answers to your problems, I can't guess what's wrong if I don't have logs.

Encoders know to be working:
- Moonlight MPEG2 Encoder - normanr
- Elecard MPEG2 Encoder - The Mac reports some success
- LEAD MPEG-2 Encoder - nwenos reports success
- ATI MPEG Video Encoder - irony.delerium - These drivers are provided by ATI for use with their TV tuner cards.
- ATI Avivo Video Conterter - normanr - bit-tech review, digit-life review, gb-pvr forum thread

Cards known to be working:
- LifeView FlyVideo 3000 FM (aka LifeView FlyTV Prime 34) - Philips SAA7134HL chipset - normanr - digit-life review, mittoni review
- ECS EZ-TV TVP3XP - Philips SAA7134HL chipset - miochza - digit-life review
- Pinnacle PCTV Pro - BT848 chipset, Connexant 878A with Temic 3X7 524 tuner - Klaas - aardvark review, tv-cards review
- Pinnacle PCTV Rave - BT848 chipset, Connexant 878A with Temic 3X7 035 Tuner - RMJ - tv-cards review (only preview mode confirmed, but seeing as the pro works - this one should too)
- Hauppauge WinTV Go - BT878 chipset - madmike269
- MSI built ATI Theater 550Pro - angust63
- Avermedia AVerTV 203 - BT878 chipset - convil - tv-cards review
- Avermedia UltraTV PCI 300 - BT878 chipset - Kindred359
- ATI TV Wonder Pro - Conexant CX8800-series chipset - irony.delerium
- ATI TV Wonder - unknown chipset - collindv, DeepSpace1, pBS - DUX review, HardwareCentral review

It would be appreciated that if you get this to work that you report your configuration so we can add it to the supported list.

MPEG-2 Compressors/Encoders: What this plugin really needs is a free mpeg2 compressor library that can be used to replace the Moonlight one. Unfortunately to make an encoder work with gb-pvr it needs to exist as a module that can be inserted into a DirectShow graph. GraphEdit is a program that can be used to create your own graphs and link up components. As a rule of thumb, IF-AND-ONLY-IF the encoder can be used in GraphEdit (and it takes video and audio of some form, and it also has to output the mpeg stream for further use - and not write it directly to a file), then it can be used in gb-pvr. Encoders/compressors that do not match this description (and hence can not be used by this plugin) include: FFMPEG, FreeEnc, XMPEG, QuEnc, hcenc.
Any plans to support the Philips SAxxx-based Pinnacle P¨CTV Stereo?

I've been playing around with GBPVR for awhile now, have an ATI TV Wonder Pro, with the 9.16 drivers installed (the 8.12 wouldn't let me timeshift) but the MMC with 9.13 the line in cuts out, the picture and sound crackle, and eventually locks up the computer. GBPVR with the WDM plugin works great, except when I go into timeshift mode. While switching over, the sound comes back on, then the picture comes back on and I have two audio tracks about 5 seconds apart? Is this something I can fix, or is it something else?

My system is

3.0GHZ P4 HT
SB Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
1 gig ram
Geforce 6800 AGP
ATI TV Wonder Pro

Here is a capture of the screen for the wdm settings, and the gbpvr.exe.log file.

Thank you.

The card I use for development uses the Philips SAA7134HL chipset, so I don't see any reason why your one shouldn't work. Have you tried it before posting? If it failed where are the logs and possibly the GraphEdit screenshot?

Use Line-In instead of Analog Mix as the Analog Input Source.

I installed GBPVR and Software Recorder .17. I launched the Config app and don't see a "WDM Software Encoder Recorder" option in the "Recording Source" dropdown menu. Is there something special I have to do to get this?

SickBoy: I think you forgot to attach your logs. Did you put the dll files into the plugin folder correctly? Did you put the config files into the gbpvr folder?

No - I did not. Where is it documented to do this?

OK, I think I got it.

FWIW, All the documentation on the wiki says to do is unzip the plugin file into your GBPVR directory, which, of course, puts everything in something like Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\SoftwareRecorder, which is clearly incorrect.

I got TV signal to come through but still need to work on audio, and then also work on getting capture to work (I don't have any of those 3rdparty capture libs installed yet). Thanks.

I can get audio but no video. I'm seeing "Error: A device attached to the system is not working".
My config is:
- Combo video/TV card 'Xtasy Everything" nvidia personal Cinema MX400 http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/d...inema.html
- PVR500 with Driver Release 2.0.43.24054
- Latest nVidia detonator drive 84.12
- Latest nVidia WDM 2.20
- XP sp2
- GBPVR 9612
- WDM Recorder .24

The nvidia card works fine when configured in BTV. I tried to see the Graphedit config but I cannot seem to find a active graph for it in Graphedit when BTV is running with nVidia. Does BTV implement Directshow?

No problem with GBPVR and the PVR500 installed and configured (both audio and video). When I add the nvidia card it appears GBPVR defaults to the nVidia card and I get just audio and no video. If I delete the PVR500 the result is the same, audio but no video. In Graphedit I don't see any mpg encoder or decoder filter, is one needed in the graph?

I've tried GBPVR configured for VMR9 and overlay with no real difference.

I've attached a zip of the graphedit image and the logs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, I think the software driver/plugin is a great idea!

Also, It would be great if users of this forum would post graphedit screen captures of their working configurations for the rest of us to see and use.
