Skin update question

OK, I'm thinking of some weird hacks since I don't know how to make plugins.

If I change a skin.xml file while GBPVR is running what happens? Will I crash it or will I eventually see the changes? I want to change some text on the fly.

In a similar stream, if I change the graphics for a file which the skin calls when does it get updated. I imagine that this is possible since AM seems to do this.

My intent is to make an icon showing the available hard drive space plus change the corresponding text.

It's a hack I know..but since my last project mtranscode is nearing an end I feel pretty empty

Have you seen the new System plugin in GBPVR version 96.8 and above?

Combine this with VAPanel's low disk warning message and you've kinda got the functionality you're after. Maybe not the look and feel but...
