No luck, capture pin is set to 'capture' but the recording fails with the same errors in the log.

This applies to the old Pinnacle PCTV tuner card wo/FM stereo, and software-encoding of MPEG-2.
I did eventually get GBPVR with the PCTV to display LiveTV using the software recorder plugin. (It does not record/timeshift, but then I haven't tried downloading a compatible MPEG2 encoder as per the NormanR instructions).
However, one peculiarity of watching LiveTV on the PCTV card is that each time I reboot I must start and quit PCTV Vision or I get no video, only audio.
In my dream world, I'd like to figure out how to repackage the Pinnacle MPEG-1 VCD and MPEG-2 SVCD/DVD encoders for use with GBPVR and SoftwareRecorder, but that doesn't appear to be a trivial hack from what I've been reading on this thread.
Thanks to all who have posted their trials and tribulations here. Made my newbie experience go a little more smoothly.

The weather plugin available from the wiki is outdated. Search the Developers forum for "weather" and you'll find a link to a zip containing a new version of the weather plugin dll file. Replace it and it works fine.
It appears msnbc revised the web page that the weather plugin pulls data from.

This is probably crossbar related, attach the log files, and they might give some insite.
I installed the software recorder for my PCTV pro.
I understand I need a MPEG2 software encoder for this, but I cannot select a video encoder. The audio encoder is selectable. Tried both the elecard and the ATI encoder.
hrm, what's in your config-records.xml in the global section? you might need to copy the latest stuff from the zip file's xml file, it got upgraded a few versions ago.
If that doesn't work, what encoders show up in GraphEdit?

I have spent hours upon hours researching this and trying my hardest to figure it out, but to no avail. I had InterVideo software that came with my computer...it was fine at first but it got buggy and finally stoped being useful (software related). I decided to try GBPVR. I downloaded and installed it. I ould not get a picture, after some research I got the WDM software encoder working with my ASUS tv7133 tv card I have. That solved the video problem but then I could not record anything. From what I am gleaming from this forum I need to download an mpeg2 encoder and an mpeg library? I downloaded the Elecard MPEG2 encoder 21 day trial - unzipped it - copied files to the gbpvr root directory...but it doesn't seem to change anything. I fear I am missing something really simple and really obvious. I'm sorry if this is a lame problem, but I just can't seem to figure it out.
If anyone has any advice or help that would be great!!
