Encoder Pass Through & interlaced streams

Hello,

When I am watching fast action live TV, the system appears to get interlacing artifacts (well, thats what I think they are - lots of very thin horizontal lines in the motion area - also seems to be a bit "twitchy" on the scene changes)

I wanted to have a de-interlace filter work with GBPVR, but everything that I try instead of Encoder pass through gives me an error about not being set to an instance of the object when I try and start live TV.

Does anyone know what this means and how to resolve? Do I have to explcitly set the de-interlace filters in the same directory as GBPVR or anything like that?

Can you post a screenshot so we can see if it is interlacing?

What capture device are you using?

If you're using 'encoder pass through' then it'll most likely be outputting an already deinterlaced image, unless you've explicitly set your video decoder to not deinterlace.

Sure, will post screenshot when I get home - just looking round the forumn looking to do as little as possible on Friday afternoon!

I am using Leadtek PVR2000 - and if that is outputting an already de-interlaced image, then it may just be the speed of my CPU.

Thanks, yeah - that looks quite familiar - I dont think I have noticed it too much within recorded programs - but I'll check it all out tonight.

I was more concerned that I couldnt actually pick anything except encoder pass through.

With the Leadtek PVR2000, you're pretty much limited to 'encoder pass though'.

The Hauppauge and ATI cards can use the other modes, which give slightly quicker channel changes, but bring with them some other side-effects.

Do you know of anyway of using FFDshow or dscaler filters before the stream is delivered to the screen by GBPVR?

Also, as an aside - how many MVPs can GBPVR handle? I have a few rooms which people want to watch movies / recordings in, but dont want the PC to grind to a halt.

You can configure it to use ffdshow or dscaler as your MPEG2 video decoder, and can have these apply whatever post processing you need.

I'm not sure. I've only ever had three going myself. In theory there is no limit (254?), but performance would suck long before that.
