Anyone use this yet? supposedly analog ntsc, atsc OTA and QAM cable tuning. Meaning non encrypted cable in the us, don't have one myself yet so I don't know if that includes HDTV and DTV channels. It is software encoding so tweaks would need to be made I'm sure but it'd be nice to know if it worked sorta like your App.

I'm not sure exactly which dvico device you're talking about, but you wont be able to get QAM digital cable. Its not supported by the dvico BDA drivers. Some models can do it with their software, but that falls back to using their proprietary WDM drivers. GB-PVR can only use the BDA drivers.

Several GB-PVR users are using the Dvico Fusion 5. I had a Fusion 5 Lite for a while and it worked fine. You'll get only ATSC OTA, using GB-PVR. For analog you'll need an analog card as well. There's some manual intervention required to set up the channels...there's a good step-by-step posted somewhere in the forum and, I believe, in the wiki. Also, the HD recordings won't be watchable via the MVP. Search the forum for 'Dvico' or 'Fusion' and you'll find several threads about the cards.

I'm using the Dvico Fusion 5 USB version. Right now, I'm using it with GBPVR ONLY to schedule, record and playback OTA ATSC/HD feeds.

When trying to view Live TV, GBPVR crashes and reboots the PC. With that said, I am happy with it's ability to record and playback HDTV here in Iowa.

I use Dvico's application to view Live TV - mostly sports like Nascar, Basketball and Football.

Crickert and sub,

I have the FusionHDTV 5 USB as well. I have it viewing liveTV, recording and playing back.
I'm using the CyberLink muxer VERSION: 4.0.2221 to record straight to mpg files.
Everyting seems to be working well except for when I record HDTV.
GBPVR seems to be susceptible to something as it crashes most of the time now when recording ATSC HDTV shows. I can usually get around 30 minutes before it reboots.
Has anyone seen this? Fixed this? GBPVR v. 96.12

If it reboots, then the problem is occurring somewhere in the drivers.

That reboot issue is notorious on the Fusion 5 USB. There's a huge thread on it over at the AVSforums.

My dvico usb causes a random reboot occasionally - not very often. I have recorded hours of OTA ATSC on GBPVR without reboots. seems like the reboots usually occur when I am using Dvico's software app.

WinterMute: how have you configured it to work with viewing live TV from within GBPVR. PM me if you have time.

I've asked under seperate cover with no response, so... Why can't I use the Fusion 5 Lite with the Dvico software and the external tuner software to get QAM through GB-PVR?

sub,

I hear what you are saying, but it does NOT happen when I use the DVICO FUSION application on HDTV shows.

Recording HDTV shows with GB-PVR, I get about 30 minutes before the first reboot. Then it reboots randomly during recording until I stop the recording or until the show is over.
I am not using the Fusion PCI cards.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Greg
