unexpected timeshift behavior

I want to clarify how timeshift is suppposed to work. Last night I was watching a 2-hour movie on CBS that started about 40 minutes late (instead of 9, it was 9:40 when I tuned in). I used timeshift during the movie which seemed to work fine, until the scheduled end of the movie (11:00 PM) then it stopped. It sort of acted like a recording rather than timeshift and the progress bar showed 2:00:00 at the end of the bar. I lost the rest of the movie when it stopped and could not finish it.

Why did it just record until 11 and not continue to record as long as there is enough disk space? I have plenty of disk space by the way. If this is normal, is there a way to change it?

I had something similar occur last night. I was going to be out so I set a program to record from 9PM to 11PM. I got home about 9:45 and decided to just watch the program from the beginning while it was recording. This worked fine until a few minutes after 11PM when it dumped me back to the main menu rather than finish playing the recorded program.

I've been aware this could happen with for a few releases when you're using the DVR-MS mux. Is that what you're using in this case?

Is it dumping you out so it can process the file? Just a thought...

I am not sure, somehow it gets confused and treats it as a recording and stops.

Sub,
Is this a consistent behavior, or should I expect only some failures?

Curious, I had this problem manifest today where I had paused for about 10 minutes. Then I resumed and everything was fine until the scheduled end of the program, at which point, audio continued but video froze (shimmered) ...

I was using the SS demux.

Sub,
I want to bring this up again as it is still happening (It ruined two shows endings for me this week). Is there anything I can do to get around this, or does it have to be fixed by you? It has been 6 months, I sure hope that it is making it up the list. Thank you.

It was changed.

When the original poster posted his question, if you pressed record while watching timeshift tv it would record until the scheduled end of the current show, and then stop. (no options)

v0.98 (v0.97 also?) behaves differently. If you press record you're given the option to record for some fixed time period, or until the end of the show, or until you exit live tv.
