Hello all,

I've been a kind of amateurish user of GBPVR for a while, but following a house move have been motivated to get it set up properly once for all. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I'm having with MVP playback.

On my PC it's fine, but on the MVP I'm getting jerky playback with what appears to be both audio/ video. I've played around with the GBPVR Playback config settings, but have had no joy so far. I must be betraying my ignorance, but would think that playback would be problematic both on the PC and the MVP if there were a decoder problem - any suggestions?

I'm postitive that I had MVP playback running sweetly on my last machine, but am now using a new one with an NVIDIA GeForce GPU. At present, I'm using the InterVideo decoder, which I think I've always been using. A few details here if they help anyone that's feeling helpful!!

2.2Ghz AMD
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT
NovaT 90002
wired ethernet network

Thanks in advance...

Hi Sub,

I'm kind of embarrassed to say I've never tried (even though I just have for the first time). My boss introduced me to GBPVR and gave me some advice on capture cards/ MVPs etc so I never actually tried running the Hauppauge software - I just stuck with yours.

I've just killed the MVP server and restarted the Hauppauge MVP service, but I only get as far as seeing the contents of my Recordings folder. Clicking Play on a file doesn't seem to do anything and I don't seem to be able to playback a video recording - I just see the film-tape stock icon but can't get it to start.

I just tried pressing the remote button 'Menu' and selecting 'Play All', but I just get a black screen - I guess I'm missing something really basic here?

There was a problem some people had were the networking device in their PC would cause the MVP to switch to 10Mbps or something like that, which would result in really jerky video. I cant remember the exact details though. It would also show up on the Hauppauge software, which is why you should check.

Yep, I did see a reference to that on a previous thread in this forum - tried to have a look to see if there was something relevant already posted before posting myself.

I had network interface problems on my last machine where it really got confused with having a NIC and a wireless card going at the same time. The network angle sounds like a definite possible culprit as playback is perfect direct on my PC.

Thanks for your help so far - will try and get things working with the Hauppauge app first and see if this sheds any further light; cheers.

How is this possible? I've locked the PC down to 100-Full duplex unless they have theirs set to Auto. I going to try another PC on my network to see if I can get the HAU MVP Server up and running to just to test the video playback. But I see a lot of users having the same issue.

So if it does show up then what? If it doesn't show up then what?
I dont know - I never had the problem myself. I just remember seeing discussed a few times on http://www.shspvr.com/smf

Here was a post that discussed it http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=3602.0

I've no idea if that is your problem or not, but thought I'd mention it as a possibility.

Thanks for that Sub.

The comments are very interesting, especially since I have had networking issues with the MVP in the past. Also, my new machine has even more complex networking capabilities than the last one (2 x ethernet NIC, 1 x wireless adapter, 1 x Bluetooth interface) which makes me more suspicious of a networking issue.

In the office now, but I will be doing some experimenting this evening and will post again to let you know of any developments.
