I thought it was an enhancement, I actually liked having skip and fast-forward available at the same time.
Good news with this patch. On my system, commercial auto-skip works again, if the folder contains only mpg and txt files. If xml and vprj files with the recordings name are in the same folder, auto-skip is still intermittent. Not a problem and an easy workaround for me. Does 96.12 look for auto-skip extensions other than txt? I remember that âedlâ and âadsâ were being considered at one time. Jim

The only file GB-PVR will use is the .txt file. It wont matter if the other files are there or not.

Your right.
I moved the xml and vprj files from my local recordings folder, but auto-skip was still intermittent. Before I installed this patch, auto-skip would fail "very" frequently when played from recordings or the library. With this patch auto-skip recordings from a remote computer, played from the library have worked 100% (so far), so I added my local recordings folder to the library. If I play the same exact file from the library, auto-skip has worked every time, played from recordings it fails 50% of the time. Hope this helps. I thought it was worth reporting. Jim

Hi Sub, I just wanted to follow up on my last post.
Auto-skip from the library menu has worked every time after installing this patch! Auto-skip from recordings is as intermittent as ever. I’m grasping at straws trying to figure out why this would be happening only in recordings. The only thing I can think of, is recordings optional “resume” feature that is not “config.xml” enabled on my system. When playing from the library, does gbpvr access and write to the mdb the latest playback position of the video file?

I've applied the patch mentioned in this thread after I couldn't effectively fast forward or skip through XviD files.
Unfortunately the patch appears to have made no difference. Should I be able to skip chunks of DivX or XviD files? Should I be able to fast forward or rewind through these files?

I can open the patch zip, but when I try to install it I get Common Language Runtime Debugging error.
Any ideas?

When you start playing one of these files on the MVP it starts a process which transcodes the file to MPEG-2 in the background. You can only ff/rw/skip within the part of the file that has already been transcoded. How far ahead of the playback position depends on the speed of your CPU. Really you're better off keeping your video files in MPEG2 format for playback on the MVP.

Though, I seem to be able to use ff/rw and skip on my MVP (not enough use to know about the reboots). Strangely, on my PC I have no timeshift mode in GBPVR or WinTV2000 (though I suppose that's another thread!) |
