a little correction for the first page..i never got my 'ati wonder pro usb 2.0' [theater 200 chipset, phillips tuner] to work all the way...it captures thru line ins fine, but tuner doesn't get audio still..Sad [same chip as newer ati AIW cards, excellent quality 12 bit color like conexant csxxx chips]

all i got working was an old pctvpro and a 3dfx voodoo3 [bt878 chips]

and yes,the decoders are installed with the ati avivo drivers..both encoders and decoders are in same file, atidvcr.dll. [there's also some filters that do cc!]

oh and it also works fine with my ati 7200-VIVO card,[composite-in] tho obviously no tuner functions as it doesn't have one..Smile

Right now I've got my pvr set up with my pvr150...it's working well enough that I haven't done anything besides upgrade for the last few months. So i'm getting edgy..

I would like to see if the AIW 9600 would integrate into the system with the WDM software recorder. From the looks of it, there are a couple of ATI based mpeg2 decoders listed on the first page which would give some hope.

Most importantly though, before I start how do I back up my system in case doing this really screws up my system. Should I just back up my entire gbpvr directory and if something fails just replace it?

Also, if I remap my channels so that they start at 100 for my ATI card does this mean I can "choose" which card I want to use?

thanks,
Jam.z

I think you're right...

So now I have downloaded the AvivoVideoConverter1_12.rar file...It installed just fine. Now I can't figure out what to do next...The program opens fine, it asks for an input file and an output format. I figure the output format would be MPEG-2, but I can't figure out what I am supposed to do. When I open GBPVR live TV works fine but as soon as I try to timeshift it gives me an error that says "no tuners are available to watch the requested channel. You can choose to watch one of the currently recorded programmes.". Then for recording, I can set it up to record a program and everything looks right until the time for the program comes up, it lists it in the "recordings" list but when I select a recording it lists the time and date and it says "failed". Should GBPVR be automatically utilizing the ATI video converter or is that something that I have to do manually?

Thanks again for all the help!

Google has tons of like to GraphEdit, but otherwise I think it comes with the K-Lite codec pack. I thought I'd fixed tipstir's problem, so logs will help here.

If you haven't already you need to set up a capture source, and select the Software Recorder plugin. On that config page you can choose the ATI encoders.

it seems that the card might work, give it a go. You can just backup all the xml and mdb files. And yes you can re-map your channels to another list. If you leave them mapped to the same numbers, then the 'first' card is used for recording, and the 'last' card is used for LiveTV.

I've installed the AVIVO encoder and installed the sofwtarre recorder...The field for the encoder gives me a blank. I'm trying to get my 9600xt AIW to work.

How do I get an encoder to show up?

EDIT:

found it had to add it to the config-recoder.xml file...now how to test!!

Well using ati mpeg video encoder doesn't work Sad will try the multimedia video encoder next

what mux should I use???

My GB-PVR is still working great, except for one problem. Audio/video synch seems to be off. When I first start it up everything synchs fine, but as time goes on the sound lags farther and farther behind the video. Any solutions for this?

jam_zhou: you can use the ATI components all round, there's a mux too. I'm using the ATI video encoder, so it should work. What do the logs say?

justincranford: I assume yu're using a linking cable at the back of the pc? Can you try audio direct from the capture card. Have you checked the playback and recording mixer settings? Can you get it to work in GraphEdit?

collindv: what encoders/decoder setup are you using? I've often found that encoder/decoder mismatch can cause lots of issues.

normanr: I do not have the option of plugging it into the back of the pc. Here is the PDF manual.

http://www.zoltrix.com/PUBLIC2/tvcard/GenieTV.pdf

Skip to page 8 of 35 in the manual to see a block diagram of the tv tuner. Section 1.3.3 at the bottom of that page says how to connect the audio.

Basically, the tv tuner has a 4-pin, internal, male audio connecter which connects directly to the sound card's AUX-IN. The setup is exactly the same as connecting a cd-rom to the CD-IN on a sound card. Same cable too.

I checked the mixer settings. Everything was on max and not muted. I hear a click from the speakers when I go into Live TV but no sound.

I am not sure what you mean by fixing it in GraphEdit. Is there something wrong in the diagram? What do you want me to try? I attached lastgraph.grf in case that helps.

Thanks,
Justin
