Enhanced Web Admin

I Hope somebody can help me, as I am having troubles with Web access to GBPVR.

The problem is that it was working and now it is not.

I have confirmed that the Web Server is running, but cannot access the Web Admin. It just times out - even when trying on the same machine using localhost.

That's exactly what i mean.

You can't do that with a web request. You might be able to do it with a magic Wake-On-Lan packet. Search Google for Wake-On-Lan and/or wol.exe

Here's a question/request.

I just found on my 250 gb drive I only had 56 free, and so started deleting old recordings using EWA. I set asc on airdate then went looking for the oldest episodes. Clicked on a recording, hit the delete button, sort changed to desc, found the oldest, clicked delete sort changes to asc, back and forth.

Can this be looked at as a bug (or annoyance).

I would like to setup the gbpvr web access via apache. But it always show the attached servererror.txt
httpd.txt show my apache config for the gbpvr only.

What is my try before?
Config the apache point to install directory. (In my config, c:\gbpvr\web)
Copy the gbpvr\web into d: and delete the NativeUtilities.dll (My case: d:\gbpvr\web)
But both not work.

P.S. When using the default web server by gbpvr(7674), it also will show the servererror.txt sometime

There was recently a request on the wishlist forum for more security for the web interface. Sub basically said that it wasn't needed, and anyone who wanted more security could set up their own system. Someone suggested setting up tunneling with cygwin.

I set it up, and although it does work, it adds quite a bit of hassle. I have to carry around my thumb drive, and open up putty, etc. before i can open up the browser.

Would it really be difficult for the EWA team to add ssl or some other encryption to log into the web admin? If it is possible, I would feel much safer opening up the port.

There's an openssl related tool called stunnel that comes in various flavours that you can use to stick 'in-front' of your web-site. It might do exactly what you need.

There's already a poor-man's encryption used to login - i.e. the password isn't transmitted in plain text, but rather hashed with a random salt, and then the hashes are compared on the server side. This means that a different hash must sent each time, because the salt changes.

So basically ssl would only assist in encrypting the returned data, and won't add much password security.

Ive noticed something, we have a username and password setup in the SETUP of GBPVR but the newest version of WEBADMIN just allows you in except for changing the config, how do i change this so you have to log in when ever you want to access the WEBADMIN instead of just accessing the CONFIG page?

The new webadmin only requires login outside your LAN. I beleive you can limit this though. I pretty sure if you try to log on through the internet for example, you would be prompted to log in.
