GBPVR Version: 0.94.13

OS: Win XP Media Center Edition SP2

Mainboard: Epox 8rgm21 (nvidia nforce2) / AMD +2300 or something... / 1 GB memory

Capture: Hauppauge Nova DVB-T (90002) + XP MCE Drivers (XP PRO drivers, same problem)

Output: Xcard

---------------------------

When pressing the "Map digital channels to epg channels" -button, my computer totally shuts down. I can see its starting the channel tuning utility, and then system reboots.

Did have this (or similar) problem before with XP Pro, but it disappeared, after i run the "windows update" and updated everything, now, no such luck.

Seems that Hauppauge Nova-t DVB card is a problem for many other people too somehow.

My computer and my TV-Card dont like your program, SUB, but I do, and thats enough, going to make it to work!

And also i have to use the Xcard, because its connected with RGB-Gable to my HDTV-capable CRT-Projector, picture is just awsome!

Sometimes crashes right after "About to try to add VMR9 preview window" but most of the times, here. (Or most of the times, it has the time to log more)

Any ideas for this crash problem?

If you machine reboots or locks hard, this is a dead cert sign you're having either driver or hardware instability issues on your machine. You wont find a setting in GB-PVR that fixes this.

I dont think this is true. It generally works well. The only common problem I'm aware of is this device often has problems finding the channels during a channel scan for UK users, but this is easily fixed by change the to <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> in the config.xml. This isnt your problem though.

Sub,

I too am now having problems with GBPVR.

It used to work - honest.

Recently I attempted to get GBPVR all set up with proper XMLTV files etc - for actually watching TV (as recommened by Tipstir) and then was having problems with the machine rebooting after I have added detected DVB-T channels on a NovaT 90002 card. Reboot would happen when I tried to watch live TV using Watch command from EPG menu.

Im running on XP MCE2005 with all updates. Presumed it was messed up installation so I reinstalled the whole OS from scratch and carefully only installed needed apps - to replace the mess of many HTPC apps previously.

Now only have a few apps carefully installed with ghost images made along the way - so I can easily go back if it goes horribly wrong - again.

My PC has the following cards.

Hauppauge NovaT and MCE500, Twinhan DVB-S, Sweetspot RGB, Xcard and Radeon 9600 all on an Intel P4P800 MB.

I have only added the NovaT as a capture card so far to GBPVR. It tunes (with BDAscan=2) and finds expected channels - though no video shows up in preview window. Then the config app crashes and I am left with the windows desktop. (at least it doesnt reboot).

Have Cyberlink Muxer installed and registered. (muxchecker finds it).

I have the latest drivers for Hauppauge HCW21Nova-t and V2.9 for mce500

Is it possible MS has foisted some foul update upon my unsuspecting PC which has broken your fine software?

Have browsed log files. Cant see any errors listed. There is pain and misery.

This used to work.

Does it show an error message?

Can you attached the logs so I can have a look?

Its most likely caused by the Hauppauge drivers conflicting with something.

log files attached.

No error message apparent before config app crashes. Just see tuning data - transponder 6 etc in tuning dialog then app disappears and Im back to desktop.

Yeah, nothing really obvious in there.

Have you tried scanning with <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> in the config.xml file?

Yes The logs I sent have bdascantype = 2. The symptom for me if set to 1 is that the card tunes but finds no channels.

Perhaps a note in the wiki is required as to which driver versions are recommended for GBPVR.

Are there any other reports I can generate to help diagnose issue. If it is a Hauppauge driver problem then others will soon encounter it.

I've never used a Nova-T (or any DVB-T device), so I'm not in a great position to recommend driver versions.

No, not that I can think of at the moment. I supposed you've confirmed its working with the Hauppauge app?

There hasnt really been any other reports so far. It may be the Hauppauge drivers conflicting with something else on your macine.

No I havent tried the hauppauge app. I try to minimise the amount of stuff I install.

The Nova T card used to work fine in GBPVR. Only recently it stopped.

Probably worth trying the Hauppauge app. I dont really have any other ideas.

Had you moved around any PCI cards? Possibly you now have another device sharing the same IRQ?
