Tryed to get an answer if Twinhan DVB-S workes with scrambled channels (Conax, Canal Digital) on this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=twinhan

Now I am actually trying, but can only get it to wotk with free channels.
Running Twinhan BDA v1.2.1.9

I don't think this works. I also think it has worked for a period of time. And that it might again in a future version. But you might be best off to wait for sub to tell you how it really is, since I haven't looked into this area myself.

for those you need dvb-s with ci (common interface - like pcmcia). Then you need the relevant cam e.g. dragon cam 2 and a subscription card.

This works for all encryption methods with the exception of s*y (nds decryption has been removed from recent cam software, apparently because of pressure from some corporation..)

Hi,

I had the impression that the twinhan card with integrated CI should not need any special support from the application. Well, it apparently do need some encouragement from the application. Smile I understand that GBPVR have had support for starting the card so that it was possible to view scrambled channels. Why wouldn't the activation of the CAM be handled by the driver. Sad

I have looked at the sample applications that comes with the Twinhan drivers and now I'm thinking about wether it would be possible to build some kind of custom graph/demux/parser that takes care of descrambling the channels. To the application it should appear as being the normal Twinhan driver but behind the scenes it would split out the part that needs to be descrambled, using the THPsiParser.

Can someone give me some leads? Would it be called a "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer with descramble" or is it a "Digital Capture Filter with descramble"?

with the ci cards we have got working (dvb-t/dvb-s) you need a cam with relevant decription support. then use the twinhan software and drivers to configure. Then insert sim card into cam and extra channels are unscrambled automatically

Channels are then presented unscrambled.
I think the idea is that you replace standard drivers with bda and it just works with the cam and sim doing all the hard work in the background.
not 100% on this, but seems to ring true with everything i have seen in forums.

i am trying to get dual uk freeview (dvb-t) before moving on to subscription

It would be great if it worked in such an easy way. Smile I have a conax CAM and subscriber card, and though I have it inserted, I can't get the scrambled channels working with GBPVR and BDA drivers, version 1.2.2.7

Looking at the sample application included with the drivers it looks like the application has to parse out somehting from the data stream and set some parameters in order to activate the descrambling.

I do not understand. I have a Twinhan DVB-T with CI. In there is a Viasat CAM with subscription card for Boxer in Sweden. This works without problems in for instance Mediaportal with BDA drivers, but with GB-PVR now it does not work.

Can I also get this working in GB-PVR in any way? I am using BDA drivers now, should I use WDM instead?
