Hi, I'm a relatively new GBPVR user. So far I've got things running quite well, just configuring and tayloring things.

Question: I had problems due to multiple installs to different directories so I bit the bullet and un-installed and reistalled to the default directory. After doing so, my old recordings do not show up under the recordings/ready button. The actual recordings are still on my hard drive. Is there a way to have them appear under recordings/ready?

Thanks to all who are involved with the development of this great software.

Not easily. If you want to and have the time/patience, you can try exporting recordings. That way you find out the format of the xml files that are the result. Then you can create one of those files by hand with the info about your old recordings and import them into gbpvr.

If you just want them to be accesible from gbpvr, move them to whichever folder you've setup for gbpvr to use as "videos" folder (not recordings folder).

Stefan, thanks for the reply. I was afraid that may be the case. After reading all I can at the website and forums, it looked like all the 'good' info about the show is captured at the end of the recording session by referencing the EPG info. Makes since once I understood the process. As you pointed out, I can get them from My Video folder/location. Only drawback is I don't have the nice detail about the show. I will play around with the xml export file.

Is the purpose of the export/import button on the config/capture source/edit screen there to avoid this problem? Are you suppose to export before you make changes which would cause your recorded info to be wiped out and then import them back following your changes?

Thanks!

Yes, I think it was because of this he created this feature.

Is this still the case, that we would have to create each xml file individually in order to retrieve recordings which haven't been exported? I know I can access them via the Video Library, but I like to record entire seasons and I don't want to get duplicate recordings.

Hydro,

If you have lost listings of your recordings in GBPVR you can quickly create a list and import it via the MPEGIMPORT utility on the wiki. It will not have the epg info however. Also, if you seem to be losing this info you might want to check the AutoRemoveMissingRecordings entry in config.xml. I use a USB drive for my GBPVR recordings and couldn't figure out why I kept losing them until I learned about AutoRemove. It needs to be set to false if for any reason your recordings directory destination is not always available.

I agree with CajunCatfish. MPEGIMPORT is pretty easy to use and it will import everything back in. You create a list by browsing to whatever dir or file you want to import in the GUI and then you import from the GUI directly.

If you're like me you didn't notice where the program installed so just in case this is the default.

If you're using NTFS f/s then sub stores the date in the metadata. You can access it something like:-

notepad filename.mpg:metadata.xml

and it comes up with XML data including the EPG description and the lot.
