Okay, so someone please pity me. Here is my sad sad story. The only reason I ever purchased an Xbox was so that I could watch tv on it, yes tv, with a mod chip and linux installed on it, I was supposed to be able to connect it to mythtv (that other pvr). Well, mythtv just turned out to be a nasty little thing and we just didn't get along together and thus fatefully gbpvr and I met like a match made in heaven.

So now my xbox has been gathering dust forever now, is there any way it could work with GBPVR using the MCEs kit from microsoft? (I didn't even know this thing existed until a few minutes ago)

Thanks guys,
mitchel

No, sorry. Its not possible. You'd be able to playback files, but thats about it.

Sell the xbox on ebay and buy an MVP. The MVP, with GBPVR is the one solution that will do everything you need!

Thanks for the great software Sub!

Hmmm...sounds like you need to find someone who has an extra MVP and wants an XBox for trade...maybe to take advantage of that sweet high res DVD playback? I have an HDTV that's screaming for an XBox. I would just buy an "HD" DVD player, but they're as much if not more than the XBox and does less.

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

Did you try Knoppmyth? it's a really simple install with myth built in with drivers and everything [pvr150+ and bt8x8] i got it the other day and installed it in 30 mins without a hiccup...with an old card i can't even find win drivers for!
it has it's ups n downs but it's really much more usable than it used to be..
[it has a MVP client btw also] or try Pluto,it's pretty much the same and auto-updating too..
i still use gbpvr cuz there's more plugins for it and it is still more stable and easier to config...and getting better all the time..Smile
can't wait till the new skins layouts come out Big Grin
sure would be nice if someone could port the linux on MVP to the Xbox..!

I thought the MythTV MVP client only allowed you to see the recorded shows? Software was called mvpmc, I think... I haven't seen anywhere of a full featured myth interface on the MVP. Is there one?

latest version lets you watch tv and pretty much everything except schedule recordings from the guide...[you can see the guide, just not schedule][seems like that'd be easy] but you can use the web interface to do it from the built in full web browser..Smile
it even plays ac3 [tho not dvd menus yet] so it can play vob's directly..
gbpvr still has better turnaround on improvements, but they are makin steeady progress... Myth is definitely not for the newbie tho..

pBS did you really say that mvpmc has a web browser built in? Where? Gimme gimme!

I'm currently using mvpmc to do playback of files recorded on GBPVR, coz my lowly little box can't really hack .NET. It'd be great if I could browse the GBPVR web interface to schedule shows!

(mvpmc really rocks though, it's sooooo fast! I keep dreaming of doing some development for it to create a generic interface so I can hook up GBPVR properly/better) GBPVR rocks too, the stability blows myth out of the water.
