Hi all,

I'm trying and failing to get Rectracker to work properly.

I'm only using RecTracker, not CDK Scheduler, X record or anything else mentioned in the forums.

Rectracker installed ok, relevant lines added to postprocessing.bat and my updateepg script. RecTracker database created ok.

However, duplicates are still being recorded. In the UK, certain channels show the same episode of a show twice a day, so more people can watch it. However, occasionally they will show different episodes on the same day. Hence the need for rectracker to stop duplicate recordings, without missing new episodes.

Firstly, does rectracker allow the GBPVR to record the show, then delete it? Or does it remove the recording from the schedule before the recording happens?

Second, why am I getting two copies of the same episode of a show?

I'm using XMLTV as my epg source.

The contents of my rectracker.log are below. What are subtitles and do I need to change my settings to ensure I get subtitles?

Code:
Command -purge
Show Charmed typically has subtitles
Show The West Wing typically has subtitles

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Simon

try this

rectracker -addignore zaasr

where the last is any junk. Do you have access installed. See if there is anything in the database.

Rectracker will delete the pending program if it matches.

The log looks like nothing is in the database. Try the addignore command and then see if things get added.

Hi Jorm

Thanks for the help.

The database does contain the shows that have been recorded. However, every show in the database that has subtitles, also appears in rectracker.log. The database is attached. Rectracker.log is below.

What does the phrase "typically has subtitles" mean? Is this information or an error?

Code:
Command -purge
Show Charmed typically has subtitles
Show The West Wing typically has subtitles
Show ER typically has subtitles
Show Numb3rs typically has subtitles

Looking at the tv schedules, I have noticed that some of the repeating shows are on with only a few hours between them and the epg is not updated between the shows, so rectracker does not run until after the same show is recorded twice.

Do I need to run rectracker -purge in postprocessing.bat as well, or will rectracker delete the second showing of the show from the disc?

Thanks,

Simon

rectracker will remove the duplicates nightly (on epg update) if you have rectracker -purge in the batch. If you put it in the postprocessing.bat it will be removed immediatly after the other recording is finished. Should work.

As for typcially contains subtitles the problem is sometimes the epg has a generic description. If that gets in rectracker it will not record it. It might be a dup might not. If you say

rectracker -subtitles -purge
It determines if the show has any occurance with subtitles and then makes that a required field therefor if one is being checked that does not have any but the show "typically does" it will not cancel it.

That is how I run mine.
