RecTracker. Can the 50-character title limit be increased?

Is there a way to lengthen the RecTracker.mdb title & subtitle field lengths (in my existing rectracker.mdb) to allow more characters? Or is the 50-character limit hard coded in rectracker.exe?

The 50, 100, 255 character field lengths worked fine with the older versions of gbpvr, but the new sql database allows much(!) longer title / subtitle / description fields. I’m finding that RecTracker fails if any of its maximum field lengths are exceeded.

Did you try to increase the field lenghts in the database? The empty database is included in the installation package and not hard coded. What should the field lengths be so I can update the install package?

No I haven’t tried expanding the field,.I only have a simple free mdb viewer.

I guess the xmltv field length limits would be a good standard to use.
Title = 120
Subtitle = 150
Description = 255

Here a version of the rectracker database with the field lengths you suggested. I called it 1rectracker.mdb so it won't overwrite the existing one when you unzip. There's also a new rectracker.exe with a new -copyfromdb option to copy the data from the old database. There's even a batch file to automate upgrading the rectracker.mdb database without losing it's contents.

If you run the rectracker -copyfrom more than once it will throw an exception because the records already exist. I corrected this in the version I checked into sourceforge (next release) but didn't bother updating this attchement. Run it only once if you don't want to see the error.
