I want to look a bug with CC playback. Can someone with a PVR250 or PVR350, and access to a web server, please help me out? I need a 5 minute capture of a show with closed caption information. One with lots of talking would be ideal.

Low bitrate would be preferrable to minimize the size of the file.

Thanks

Cheers. I'll mention it here if I get any offers in the mean time.

I need the recording to have occurred on a PVR250 or PVR350, with direct.ini edited to set the appropriate quality setting to have OutputType=14, which forces the Hauppauge drivers to include CC info in the MPEG stream.

i have a PVR350 and a webserver but i can't figure out how to get CC to work. i hit the sub/cc button on the remote but nothing came up. i checked the direct.ini>outputtype=14 and that was set right.

anyway, if you can tell me what to do i can throw it up on the net for you.

Unfortunately there was nothing that painless.

There is only some very basic CC functionality included. If you record a file with the outputtype=14, the Hauppauge drivers will include the CC information the resulting MPEG file. If you're using VMR9 with the InterVideo NonCSS video decoder, and have the 'Show Closed Caption' option enabled (top right, misc tab of config app), then it'll show CC information when you playback the recording.

The above is full 30-minute show at high quality with "static captions", meaning the captions were added after the show was edited (by the producer), so they appear at the proper time.

Here is a 5-minute clip in low quality with "live" captions, meaning it is a live show and someone is typing what the speakers say, so the captions "scroll" onto the screen, and lag. it's about 5 minutes at low quality. However, the first minute or so (weather and ads) don't have any captions on them.

I have 768k upload speed.
