Hi,

I was trying to track down another 0kb recording issue and noted that GBPVRTray.exe is taking 380MB. Is this normal or a known issue?

I have rebooted for a couple of days. I do run Zonealarm & Cybersitter.

For me, its nott he tray icon, but the recording service that takes up 150MBs of Ram with only one pending recording and at an idle state. The tray icon only takes up 15MB

I can't confirm this right now but I believe at one point I found a memory leak in the tray tool. Someone try this if you're bored...

Stop GBPVR Recording service (either through services.msc or batch file, whatever).
Check memory usage of tray tool - probably around 15-20MB (which is REALLY a lot for a tray-tool with a small context menu, but oh well).
Right click tray tool, fiddle with menu, select options, do whatever.
Check memory usage of tray tool... Did it jump?

I thought I remember this happening to me one time, but I kinda forgot about it since I never have to fiddle with it anymore.

One thing that really hogs some memory is the web server. Fire up GBPVR Recording service and it'll usually be around 70-80 MB. Connect to the web server from a remote machine and it'll leap to about 200 total.

You cant really make a .net app that uses much less than this. Most of this is the .net runtime etc. Even a simple 'hello world' uses about the same.

No, thats not normal. I just checked my lounge PC, which has been running for the last couple of weeks and it's sitting on 13MB, which is about what I'd expect. Its not a known issue.

I rebooted - I'll have to see if/when it occurs again - I'm still basically chasing 2 main issues:

- 0kb recording (occasionally) - might have to try more mux versions perhaps - this is really the main issue as 5% of the time I still lose a recording - reference http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=9471

- get UI errors associated with inter-gbpvr connectivity - seems to be associated with my filter software I think (cybersitter) - would be nice to have a debug mechanism here that I could run every minute or so in the background to find out exactly when the issue occurs (e.g. some sort of ping check to the recording service perhaps) - Reference http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=9693

Hmm... didn't know that. I write embedded C++, so I'm used to having to conserve memory whenever possible. Thanks for the info though!
