Hi,

I spent the last couple of days setting up my old 1Ghz P3 laptop with gbpvr, connected to a Lifeview Tv Walker Ultra. So far, so good. Installed DivX, intervideo, etc and it's actually working reasonably.

So far, I've been unsuccessful in finding an answer to the following question: can I change the audio bitrate for recordings? I know where to change the video settings, but can't find where to change the audio bitrate. I found some posts that it should be possible with Mp3 lame, so I found & installed that, but where do I go from here? Recorded files are rather large, and I believe it to be because the audio bitrate is rather large. (Checked the properties of the files in explorer: audio bitrate 224 kbps, video datarate 152 kbps).

I must admit, I'm on the edge of almost understanding some of the issues with de- and encoding, muxes, etc, and I know I'm not quite there yet...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
matthijs

In config on the scond tab where you select your source. there are options here for the recording quality. I think you have to into source settings.

Anyhow at the bottom can you select the quality level. Here you have the option of edditing the parameters and you can select the audio bitrate.

Cheers

Thanks Gareth,

I know that tab. It doesn't specify anything about the audio bitrate, however. I can change the audio sampling rate, but not the bitrate. As I understand, Divx video uses MP3 audio and it should be possible to specify the desired bitrate for the audio somewhere.

Try the following setting in config.xml:

<!-- GO7007 settings -->
<GO7007SBPreferMP3Audio>true</GO7007SBPreferMP3Audio>
<GO7007SBMP3BitrateKbps>256</GO7007SBMP3BitrateKbps>
<GO7007SBMP3SampleRate>48000</GO7007SBMP3SampleRate>
<GO7007SBAviMuxBuffered>true</GO7007SBAviMuxBuffered>

This device doesnt do any hardware encoding of the audio, so it only gives you PCM by default. To use MP3 audio with this device, you need to have the LAME audio encoder installed from: http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/directsho..._dshow.zip

Pardon my intrusion on this thread.

This could be the reason my m402u recording bitrates are going bonkers.
