Wow, this one is kicking my butt...

I want to be able to play and record my DVDs to HD and then copy them back to DVD. Am I on the right track?

Here's the status:

My Videos v4.1.0.10 - done
MyDatabase.mdb - done
DVDDecrypter - done
dvdauthor - could not find a windows version at the site given - finally found some GUI version () and it installed OK but I don't think this is a command line console app as expected. Should I copy all the files into the same directory with the rest of these files?
dvddecrypter - done
PVAStrumento - done (just cpvas.exe)
mkisofs - found cdrtools-latest.zip here: http://smithii.com/?q=blog&from=20 - Should I copy all these files into the same directory with the rest of these files?

And I haven't even gotten to configuring batch files, etc?

Is there some other way to just copy DVDs? I really don't care about VODs, ISOs, yada, yada...

yeah im trying to make this a lot easier in my videos 5 to set up, its a pain in the arse as is now.

just extract dvdauthor, mkisofs etc all into the same directory, just make things easier. dvdauthorgui has a lot of the tools you need, then just edit the .bat file to point to the directory where you extracted all the files.

if you have nero 6.6 (or nero 6 you can just upgrade for free) you can use nerocmd dvdburn.bat file which makes things easier and a lot quicker. and then you dont need mkisofs or dvddecrypter for the burning.

the most common problem is just having the .bat file setup incorrectly.
