hi all

i have a wintv pvr 150 and finally (with HUGE and i mean HUGE help from sub-THX alot Smile) i got my HTPC working perfectly. the only problem know is that whenver i open gb pvr , the channels start blurry and
black and white and it takes 5-8 seconds until the chanells are tuned
properly. after that it works well sometimes and sometimes stays very blurry and not sharp at all. when i close the program and restart it then the whole tuning proccess starts again. has anyone come across this?

thx to everyone for their help and to developers of this awesome program!!

That the first seconds aren't good at this card seems to be normal. I think this has something to do with the performance of the pci-subsystem of your Mainboard, but i am not sure.

I could observe, that this will be better if i play with the PCI Latency within the Mainboard BIOS.

But that your picture is sometimes bad looks for me, that the frequencies aren't right configured. You should control the registry entries.

EDIT:
I found out, that the last drivers on the american Hauppauge Site aren't very good. My picturequality isn't so good and fast, how it was with the drivers from the german site (~2 month older)

thx for the answer!

firstly, how do i control the registery entries? and also the problem is not only that it takes a few seconds to tune each time (i could live with that) its just that the picture quality is really poor, its smudged and not focused. thx for the help, if anyone has the same problem or a solution please let me know Smile

thx alot

Regarding the freqeuncies... if you know which frequencies to use (you could ask your cable company if you're on one of those, or use the tuningassistant), then you can enter the frequencies in the config app. You enter them *instead* of the channel numbers. Frequencies are added in full length, that is, for example, 170Mhz would be 170000000

hi

tried entering the freq manually and both with the tv assistant and no change in quality. i am really frustrated....they picture quality is still very bad...not focused and takes forever to tune. could this have to do with the video card (gforce3 64 mb)? it works fine with dvd and divx in tv out mode to the tv, i get a good picture. anyway i really am disappointed with the money i spent, since i cant get a picture quality thats even 80% of a normal tv antena. GB pvr is an awesome program but its frustrating since the tv quality for live tv is horrible. would appriciate any additional help!

Have you tried different versions of the PVR150 drivers to see if they help? There isnt going to be any GB-PVR specific setting that would help the sort of problem you're describing.

This is a good question - I always have to launch (and then close of course) WinTV2000 whenever I restart my computer before starting GB-PVR, otherwise my picture is definitely out of focus (and we are talking direct video in from my cable box rather than tuned-in channels). So it is definitely worth checking this out (I have just built this into a start-up macro on my GB-PVR box, so isn't really a problem now).

cheers,

thx for the answers guys!

unfortunantly yeah, the quality is also very bad with the wintv2000. i may end up buying a new video card just to see if that helps since i am really frustrated after a week of not being able to get decent(i gave up on very good) pictue quality.

best wishes and happy holidays

Do you use tv-out on the video card? If so, do you get a good picture if you view it on a monitor? Tv-out can be pretty bad on cheap video cards, but with a lot (a LOT ;-) ) of tweaking with the settings, it can get quite viewable anyway.
