Hi,

Im having some difficulty installing MyVideos. I have unsucsessfully tried to install it before but now i've come back to it but im having the same problem.

Basically im not getting the MyVideos button on the front of GBPVR.

I installed by copying the five MyVideos files into my GBPVR root directory, put the plugin file in the plugin folder and then copied the "keypad", "My Videos" and "OnScreenKeyboard" folders in the blue skin folder into my blue skin flolder in gbpvr.

I think that my problem is the way im installing the skin. I haven't messed with skins before and don't understand how the system works.

I have ensured that MyVideos points to the MyDatabase file and i have registrerd a virtual root folder where my recordings are kept. (No actual files in here, only sub-directories)

I cant believe that even by following the dummies guide i cant figure it out, christ - what does that make me?!

Thanks, in advance for any help - Mat

Open the Config App and click on the Plugins tab,
on the left pane check the "My videos" box
then click OK to restart Recording service.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

This is something i have already done whilst setting the virtual root and database connection string.

Any other pointers? I was expecting that maybe my method in installing the skin might be the problem?

Thanks again!

thats my cock up not yours, if its hard to setup blame the author not the user Smile

which skin are you using? and you said that you ensured it points to the mydatabase file, just to be clear you have downloaded the mydatabase.zip and extracted the mydatabase.mdb to the gbpvr directory right?

can you run gbpvr (with my vids enabled) and then post your gbpvr.exe.log file.

oh also check to see if the dvd directory exists (i think that might cause a problem). errr just go thru every screen in the config and make sure everything exists etc.

Not at all, i appreciate all the work people like yourself and sub are doing, i just wish i was a bit wore savy with it myself.

Im using the blue skin that came with gbpvr, like i said, i have no experience of changing skins hence no knowlege of how the skin system works. Ive just copied your "Keypad", "MyVideos" and "ONScreenKeyboard" folders into my blue skin folder. I think this is what ive done wrong but cant find anything more detailed to guide me.

Re Mydatabase, yes i downloaded the zip and pointed my videos at it.

Thanks for the support - Mat

yeah its something wrong with the database, can you post your config.xml file and just double check the mydatabase.mdb file is in the gbpvr root directory. and can you give me the absolute path to gbpvr
eg is it
C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr
?

the problem is its trying to update the database, but i think its failing because it cant find the database to update it.

The MyDatabase file is in the gbpvr root directory. I ended up renaming it by putting a .mdb extention on the end thinking this might be the problem, but it didn't help. Maybe this is confusing things. Ill re-extract the MyDayabase file into gbpv, run gbpvr and repost my log just incase.

The absolute path to gbpvr.exe is as you typed : C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr

Thanks for sticking with it - Mat

found the problem, you set your connection string as
Code:
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\MyDatabase.mdb
where it should be
Code:
Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source="C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\mydatabase.mdb"
the last part just points to the file, the rest is database stuff (incase you dont want to use the Access database, eg use mysql, oracle etc).

you attached the wrong log file, attach the gbpvr.exe.log file.
