New version available at http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/VideoArchive

From the release notes:

• Added a new panel widget that will display message in the VA panel for shows that will not be recorded due to conflicts. The maximum number of conflicts to display is configurable.

• The list of pending recordings now indicates scheduled records that conflict with another show and thus block it from being recorded. The name of the first conflicting show is displayed as part of the description. This requires skin changes to the list view and preview view skin files; see the default blue skin for an example.

• Added “hourglass’ indicators to show when lists are being filled. This requires skin changes to the list view and preview view skin files; see the default blue skin for an example.

• The What’s New entry in the recordings list will now list the new recordings in the right hand pane rather than just a generic entry describing what the what’s new list is for.

• Fixed internet info fetch to work with the updated format of amazon.com web pages.

• While GBPVR is running, if a jpg, png, or gif file is dropped into a directory with a the same file name as a video (e.g., a video name video.mpg and a image name video.jpg), the image is automatically imported into the video archive database in place of whatever image was previously there for that file.

• Adding @image as an available attribute in the directory and list items. See the list view skin 3.xml skin for an example of its use.

• You can now have multiple list view and preview mode skins. In addition to the list view skin.xml and preview view skin.xml file you can have any number of additional skins names list view skin 2.xml, list view skin 3.xml and so on and preview view skin 2.xml, preview view skin 3.xml, and so on. Pressing the unnamed button on the remote will now cycle through all of the list view skins and then all of the preview view skins and then back again.

Basically the new panel widget will display a message when there are conflicts showing you what show will not be recorded and the show that it blocking it.

As to the font "problem", it looks perfect on my machine, so I don't know what the problem is. If there is a problem on your machine, you can reduce the font sizes in the vapanel skin.

Other people seem to have problems with the font sizes too. You would think 14 point Arial Narrow would be the same on all machines, but somehow it is not. My guess is that some machines don't have Arial Narrow installed so windows picks another, wider, font in the same family, like plain Arial instead.

Could be dependant on font sizes in the video settings, i.e. normal or large fonts

Question.
When looking through it, i see "What's New" and .Videos.

is the "Videos" a combination of all of the archive directories, or is that path set somewhere else?

No, the .Videos is just a place holder for files stored at the rrot level in your recordings directories. If you don't have any, it will disappear the first time you select it and the plug-in finds that there are no files to show. If you set the "load all files and directories on initial startup" item to true on the memory tab in the config screen the plug-in will search everything when it first starts and you won't see empty directories showing up. The default is to fill the lists on demand. Do you see anything in the What's New entry?

dumb newbie question...
regarding:

"Basically the new panel widget will display a message when there are conflicts showing you what show will not be recorded and the show that it blocking it."

Can this be added to the gbpvr that I now have - I have a plain vanilla unmodified latest-version? The conflict resolution UI is hard for my family members to use.

If you install the plug-in, by default it will install a new main menu for the blue skin that includes the VA Panel. You can then go into the GBPVR config program and configure the panel. It can show upcoming recordings, conflicting recordings, the now playing music track (or net radio track), stock quote, low disk space warnings, and, if you have the weather plug-in installed, the weather. Any or all of these can be enabled and the panel will scroll through messages at a configurable rate. You can use the panel even if you decide not to use the video archive plug-in itself.

The video archive plug-in now also displays conflicts. Again, using the blue skin, if you select the plug-in and then press the blue button to go to the list of scheduled recordings you will see a little TV set with a red line through it in front of any shows that are in conflict. The show that will be recorded is shown in the list; the one that is blocked it listed in the description.
