It has been incorporated into the video archive plug-in. The old standalone dvd2mpeg.dll file is obsolete and should be removed from your plug-in directory if you upgrade to the video archive plug-in version. I have stopped fixing bugs in the old one and only make changes in the VA version.
Ok I did find in the setup of gbpvr that you can schedule the converting of mpegs to xvid at night. But is there anyway to go straight to xvid or divx when ripping using the video archive program as opposed to converting first to mpeg?
I have two questions regarding this plugin and the mediaMVP:
1. Is the DVD to MPEG2 plugin compatible with streaming to the mediaMVP? I heard that the medaiMVP will not accept AC3 audio, and I thought that this plugin didn't convert the AC3 audio to another format. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
2. I'd like to compress the MPEG2 to the smallest possible file (low video quality and maybe MP3 audio). Will this plugin do this? If not, could you point me to an application that can?
The plug-in uses three external programs to do the conversion. The first (dvddecrypter) rips the DVD into seperate audio and video streams; the second (besweet) converts the audio portion into mp2 format and the third (mplex) combines the audio and video streams back into an mpeg file. You can adjust the besweet command lines and mplex command lines to decrease both the audio and video quality, although I have never done so.
