OK, each new year I reformat my HD and start fresh as even the images I backup get old and full of junk.
So, the first thing I install is GBPVR with the latest PVR500 drivers. I can record fine but when I go to live tv, I get a black screen. The icon is lit in the tray as it does when using live tv and recording but I don't even hear anything. I'm not using tv out as I record directly to my computer and play back later via MVP.
I've played with the tuners but do have them set as they were before. I can get tv to play in WinTV2000 and also tried Sage TV trial to see if it works, which it does.
Did I miss something in the config this time?

What source do you use (composite/svideo/tuner)?

You say recordings work, do they look correct when you play them back?

Both tuners are set to 'internal tuner' and 'cable'.
Yes, the recordings look fine. I don't notice a difference in quality from the past.

On the MVP, live tv is effectively just playing a recording as it is still in the process of recording, so I dont know why you'd getting this.

That's the strange thing, I can watch live tv thru the mvp with no problems at all but I just can't watch live tv directly on my pc....no sound, just a black screen. All the other functions seem to work fine.

Live TV is working now. All I've done is to remove the sources and added them again. I also installed PowerDVD. Other than that, I've done nothing to effect the program.
I did not say at first but right after installing, it worked and then stopped. So, maybe it'll stop again. But for now, it seems fine.

It would have been installing PowerDVD that corrected it. You most likely didnt have a MPEG2 decoder that GB-PVR could use.
