I posted on another site with now avail. One person said he thought it was the closed captioning info that was "peaking through" and that I might be able to use ffdshow to crop it. Any ideas? I'm new to ffdshow - it's very confusing! Smile.

AMD 3300+, nVidia 6600, PVR-150 (installing PowerColor 550 PCI-E tonight)

Thanks,
Ryan

I'm not sure if its the same thing you're experiencing, but I've always noticed a line of static at the top of the picture a few pixels wide. I just always figured my cable signal wasnt very good.

sounds like it, I'm would guess it's not the cable b/c it's only on certain channels, one of them is Fox, so it messes with my 24....it should know better!

It's signal data or CC or something like that.

I use my vid card (nvidia CP) to just push the top of the picture off the screen. It makes a black bar at the bottom, but it just looks like the end of the tube.

I find if I press F7 a few times to cycle to back to the same ratio the line dissappears.

There are seven ratios, and one of them is to do an overscan ratio, which nudges that part of the screen off-screen. You're probably getting that one. Keep using it if it fixes it, of course, which is why it's there.
